Need Recommendations: Classic Mandarin Songs

I remember growing up, before I started finding my own music, I always listened to what my family liked. They played the songs that they were familiar with which were mostly Mandarin ballads. Now that I'm older, I remember they were pretty catchy and enjoyable back then, unlike the more Western-influenced idol songs today. So recommend me some catchy mandarin songs to satisfy my nostalgia. It doesn't have to old or ballads, but it shouldn't have la-la-la or other onomatopoeias in the lyrics.

鄧麗君 ( Teresa Teng ) - 我只在乎你 ( I only care about you )

Andy Lau - wang qing shui

(Home Again Without

Woulda replied earlier if I saw this. Gonna take a stab in the dark, and guesstimate on the time period here assuming you're similar in age to me. Though the first one might be quite a bit more dated, it's a song I like listening to a lot.

Most likely though...the four heavenly kings will cover the male artists. (Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Leon Lai, and Aaron Kwok). They have a sizeable amount of songs in both mandarin and cantonese. Then Harlem Yu ( yu chen qing ) / Emil Chau aka Wakin Chau ( zhou hua jian 周華健 ) / 李宗盛 (Li zhong shen) from the Taiwan scene.

If this even helps.. let me know via PM. And i can attempt..to find some specific tracks. My files are mixed up among hard drives/laptops/desktops since some stuff crashed and had to resort to very unorganized backups.

these should be youtube-able.. (just copying song title in chinese should do)
Andy lau -
蔡琴 - 被遺忘的時光 (got popular again when infernal affairs used it in the scene where yan and ming are testing out the stereo/cables.)
* 童安格 (tong an ge ) - 其實你不懂我的心 [guess he's the original singer? 蔡琴 also covered it. i recognize both of their versions...so I duno who was first]
*Emil Chau - Peng You (朋友)
Emil Chau

Classic Mandarin Songs?

Depends on how far back you want to go back, but Teresa Teng is "must buy". In fact, her music should be included in any Chinese music collection, Cantonese or Mandarin. Her discography goes back to the late 60s, but if you pick up one of her many "Greatest Hits" CDs, I'd think you would be set.
