Help with fit: EX90 -> Image X10

My old EX90's are no longer with me, and I want something better. Something that has more punchy and more extended bass.

So I'm fairly convinced by the X10 except for one thing, the fit. How far in to the canal do people stick them?

I used my EX90's with the large tips and they fit well into the ear canal opening. How far in would I have to stick the X10's to get a good sound?

Cheers,
Ben

Disturbingly far.

With me, they only seem to go canal phone deep. I use the small tips and I get a perfect seal. If I put my finger on the X10 while it is in my ear, I can just barely feel the flange edge with the tip of my finger.

I wouldn't think you need to put them in any farther than they will seal. If they seal at the opening of the canal, there you go. If they require being pushed in a little deeper you'll know how far is enough. But they are like any other canaphone which can sit just about where you need them to. The only difference with these is their small size which will allow other people to fit them more securely by pushing them in farther.

I personally like to push them in about the same distance a set of ER6s go. Or maybe as far as a set of Shure SE series will go.

Mine sit right at the ear canal opening level for the most part, with the med gels (single flange). No way you need to push them in real deep. That's a fallacy. Now, if you are using a foamie, maybe it would go deeper, but not with the med gels. They are like you aren't even wearing anything. I own the EX-082s, and theX10s are more comfy.

Thanks for the info. My outer ears are very open, but my canal is pretty tight. I'm guessing that I won't need to push them in too far. If they can go in/out in a couple of seconds then I'm happy, I don't want to spend minutes getting a good seal.
