The EBs are really an overall headphone. It gives you the bass impact when you want it in types of music where bass is presented front and center like techno music or rap and hip hop. In rock music, where there is midbass, I tend to set my iPod on Bass Reducer and it ends up being PERFECT. But I like to have the option of having no EQ and having rap music sound PERFECT. Bassy music needs a headphone that can replicate the bass foundation strongly and accurately and the EBs do it. Whenever you need to listen to rock or classical, setting the bass a little lower will do the trick. It is good that a headphone is a little over bassy so that you can always under EQ it. I heard the Super.fi 5 pros and they were good for rock music but for rap music, I had to set the bass booster EQ to have it sound good for rap music but that made it sound muddy. The EB's over-do it so you can under-do it when you want to. The Pro's don't bass it enough so that you end up bass boosting which is not a good thing to do because it causes distortion.
