The last good Bowie album... ?

I just picked up a copy of Let's Dance, which I'll confess to enjoying alot even though this is supposed to mark the point of Bowie's definitive sell out. I don't mind if he does pop along as he does GOOD pop.

Has he released anything since Let's Dance that's good? Or maybe you think his last good album was earlier?

I think Bowie could be classified as the biggest sellout of all time. But you know what? He doesn't hide it and I respect him for that. When he gave up the rights to his music to buy stock and then sold that stock to make something ludicrous like 200 million now...well, that's beyond selling out...that's called business savy.

I think his last album kicked some serious ass. Heathen is a group of other artist's songs done his way. I love it. It was tough for me to buy into it at first but after listening...I had to

Well, I can't add a "There is no good Bowie album" option because only moderators can edit polls.

I really like Bowie's older stuff. He has made some amazing records.

I don't own "let's dance" because the three good songs on the album are on just about every 2CD best of/singles collection, other tracks are somewhat weak.

I really only think Bowie has one great album where every track is great, that is "ziggy stardust" other albums have several very good songs along with several weaker tracks making them a
mixed bag (some more mixed than others)

If I have a 2CD singles best of collection and album "ziggy" this gives me 95% of everything I need by Bowie

BTW, I really enjoy the "pin ups" cover album, and the recent 30th anniversary edition of "ziggy" is essential.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. To the contrary, Bowie has made many consciously uncommercial, yet artistically adventurous, albums. Listen to "Outside" "Low" "Lodger", "Earthling."

I'm a big Bowie fan.

Late 60's stuff - wonderful
Space Oddity - great
Hunky Dory - great
The Man Who Sold The World - great
Ziggy Stardust - great
Pin-ups - great
Diamond Dogs - wonderful
Aladdin Sane - great
Scary Monsters - great


I couldn't really get into Bowies "soul" or "US" phase and after Scary Monsters, felt that his creativity had gone downhill.

My vote for last great Bowie Album is "Scary Monsters".

His greatest song: Time on AladdinSane.

I like Lets Dance because SRV is in it. Also the the greatest hits packages have the vastly inferior soundtrack version of Cat People for some sick reason. I saw Bowie during the Glass Spider tour and don't remember if SRV was still in the band though I haven't found any SRV/Bowie boots.
