Clueless regarding to headphones. For many of these the k271 is as good as it gets. Read a few headphone reviews in these magazines and you'll notice what i mean, you might as well read a review on CNET And may i include that the general audio engineering skill level in germany doesn't really compare to whats going on with the big guys in the US, as sad as it is. However my favourite engineered songs come out of japan.

Well, i'm dealing with results of their "mixing" on a daily basis. Mostly, it's atrocious crap. OK, it's not their fault, it's just how music industry works nowadays....but still.
Also, they're clueless since 50% use DT 770 for work.

I wasnt bashing the k271 at all, it is a good headphone considering it's price and that it's closed. But we all know it gets better than that.
Personally i'm not 100% happy how it's tuned but that falls under taste not technical ablility.

Fair enough, and agreed on the tuning. Closed doesn't necessarily *have* to be an Achilles heel though. The K340 and R10 are both testament to that.

The sound is very close to the K701, dependent of the music, sometimes a little bit freshener, clearer, more detailled - this are only little nuances and hard to feel.

Comfort - the earpads of the K702 seems me a bit softener, the fit is a bit more pleasant.

For me I prefer the K702

I have both series K701/702 and K271 Pro/MKII

The K271 are very good, but the K701/702 sounds a bit better, difference dependent of the music.

If a closed headphone essential - the K271 is a very good choice!

Though I'm not a huge fan of the K701, they are a fair bit more resolving and open sounding than the K271 so I can definitely see the preference.

Argh!

They still have the bumpy headband???

Bah!

O.K., in all fairness, either my K701's headband is getting slightly more comfortable over the last few months, or I'm getting more used to it.

Scratch that: Change "more comfortable" to "less uncomfortable". But I'm still not happy with it, quite honestly. Such a shame, since the K701's are so perfectly comfortable in every other way, and very good sonically.

Man, move the headband to the back part of your head. It gives me no problem whatsoever wearing it this way.

"comfortable" or "uncomfortable" depend by the figure, stature of your head - round, longish, broad, oval, ovum, small, big, "king size", etc.

For me the K701 is more comfortable as my Senn HD600

Yeah, must be a YMMV thing.

I've been reclining on the couch listening to them all nite while on my laptop...I move the headband front/back/top/etc every 20-30 mins, but no matter where I put it it just seems to bug me 'cuz I can feel those nubs digging into my scalp. No idea why.

Now with my Denon D2000's, which have a wide flat (padded) headstrap, I have no issue at all.

I might rig up some cable ties or rubber-bands to relieve the tension pulling down the strap. For some reason there's a lot of tension on the strap (due to the shape of my head?) and that might be it.

But otherwise, I really like these cans. A lot.

Any further comments on the burn in process, they are slow to burn in?
And who the sound change in your experience?

I'm curious if AKG change the inside cables on the 702 vs 701?

Recable a new mini XLR cable, how much it will change the sound, and in what way?
