And who the sound change in your experience?
I'm curious if AKG change the inside cables on the 702 vs 701?
Recable a new mini XLR cable, how much it will change the sound, and in what way?

Yesterday I had a longer sessions and compare K701 with K702.
After repeated changeover I cannot say there is a hearble difference between. If I mean I hear a difference after changeover it was not decided detecable

IMHO - Very little differences are hard to detect, the little time to change between suffices to forgot the very little details - the human brain have a bad audio memory. This varies from day to day too.

I will compare them with other music soon ....

Wow...Like Ultrasone, the sound keep changing in steps. Mmm Interesting...And it's not the Titanium or the gold driver.

BAM! Sad but true! (but a funny post!)

Seems like buy.com have them at great price now.
Akg K702 Reference Class Open-Back Headphones - K702 - Buy.com

I managed to snatch mine for $336 shortly after the release and thought it was a great deal.

Thanks for your help. It's really nice price, but unfortunately I live in Japan and they can't ship internationally.

looks like it's from a 3rd party seller and not buy.com itself.

IMO the K702s look nicer and the detachable cord is a welcome touch...

I wouldn't expect there to be any sonic difference between the K701 and the K702, since the K702 is just the professional version of the K701 and not a replacement for the K701...

Thanks for the impressions FritzS. I was planing to get K701 as a complement to my D2000 and after seeing K702 i had some doubts about sq difference. After reading this thread i realized that there's no need to spend extra on K702 since i like K701 design more, they're cheap in Europe and K702 aren't and yes, they come with the (IMO rather cool) stand. Anyway, since you got both i can only say congratulations and enjoy them.

k702+zu mobius look very professional. I thought they would be "midnight" blue but in person I think it's more of a "shadow" blue. It's like a really dull black. No more toilet white! Were the k701s designed to be used in the bathroom while doing your business?
But seriously chrome/white/grey=bad. I do think the brown leather is nice though.

I am selling my GS1K to finance the K702 with SAA Equinox... Hoping it is a right choice to be made...

Well you're moving away from Grado, so it's a good start.

Still kepping the RS1 and letting go GS1K....
