Aargh! Brand new SA6's don't work. Now what?

So for my very first pair of good earphones, I decided to go with the SA6's, in large part due to the glowing reviews that they received here.

Well they arrived yesterday, and I was super excited. I set them up only to find out that one of the wires will not work. I was very disappointed.

I have read a few other concerns about the quality on here, and truthfully my experience makes me doubt them now.

Im looking for advice on what I should do next. I know Sleek's customer service is great and that they will get me a new wire in no time, but Im not sure I want them after this.

Should I go with the Super.fi 5 pro's like I was thinking originally, or maybe something like the HF2's, since I will be using them with my iPhone?

Any advice is very much appreciated.

I don't know how/why faulty ones are still slipping through. When my earpiece died within 24 hours, Jason had a new one shipped to me less than 48 hours later.
But he was very surprised the earpiece was faulty since he said every pair was checked before they left, and he thought maybe it had been damaged in shipping. But that was over 4 months ago, and since then, quite a few other people also seem to have got either dead earpieces, or faulty cables.

And now you have a faulty pair too.

I'd say it's up to you to decide if you want to try another pair. If it was me, I'd try the replacement first before discounting them permanently. Now you've bought them, you may as well try out a fully working pair.

They're pretty nice when they're working

And for the record, I haven't read of any complaints about replacements becoming faulty, so it's probably worth giving them another shot.

Thanks for the response.

Both earpieces work, it's actually one of the plugs on the wires which doesn't work. This seems like a less serious issue, but still a little disappointing.

Relax, take a deep breath. I've owned mine for quite awhile, and did require a single replacement, but the SF5Pro, from what people who have owned both say, aren't even close to the Sleeks. They will send you a replacement part, whatever you need. And you will enjoy the sweet sounds these phones can deliver. With a two-year warranty, nothing to worry about. I know it's hard to be patient considering its your first major IEM purchase, but they WILL be worth it.

Hmmm... I am also starting to feel that there may be durability issues with the Sleeks. I have already had one faulty earpiece replaced and now one of the plasti-chrome sleeves has come unglued sliding back and forth and the treble tube holders is starting to crumble with a piece pulling out while swapping a tube out. Also notice a small tear starting to appear in one connector on the cable.

Whilst I really love the sound and fit of the SA6 and have complete faith that Sleek will put things right it all starts becoming a little inconvenient having to mail the faulty units to the other side of the globe and waiting patiently for replacements. May just have to go back to my q-Jays I think.

I had the same problem, a week after getting mine (last Monday) the cable to for the left side became faulty, but I could still get it to work. I emailed Jason and get my new cable later today. Now last night (Monday) on week after first said faulty cabling, where the cable goes into the plastic part for the Y split on the single cable side, the cabling has started to come out. There is a good quarter to half inch of unprotected cableing hanging out now. That being said, and with that pic, I am glad I emailed Jason about my earpiece having the silver plastic thing moving around. I now know of two people on here that had that problem and had their's fall apart on them.

But, with all that said and done, I still love my Sleek's. SQ, fit and comfort and amazing. I may have to get some Mallows or something if Jason wants me to send him my earpiece though. I am still waiting for a reply from him. But I do say you should get your new cable and really give the Sleek's a chance. I spent $210 on my Sleek's that I have had for just over two weeks. I am still very impressed by them, because from what I can gather, they are still a relatively new company and I doubt they have a lot of people in their company. If they have their products made on an assembly line then you can garauntee there are going to be some faulty ones, we just happen to be a couple of the one's unlucky enough to get them.

contact Jason or someone else at Sleek. They are wonderful people to work with and their response is super-fast. I had to have mine replaced and Jason did it in record time.

I gave Jason a call and am waiting for a call back. I know he just had surgery, plus they are dealing with the storm down there.

I dont mind getting this one replacement, Im just worried it will be a regular thing with these earphones.

I doubt it will be an issue, just don't wrap up the cable around your mp3 player and stick them in your pocket. I think that may why my cable messed up and the earpiece has a loose part on it. I know that's the reason why the cable is separating at the connection. So yeah, I recommend just leaving the cable unwrapped and not putting them in your pocket. You have to be really careful with them.

Great advice. Wrapping cables around DAPs is not a good idea. Sure to cause undue stress.

Jason just called me back. As others have noticed, customer service is top notch. He is sending me two new cables, shipped two day. Im very pleased with the quick response time.

I will definitely give these IEM's a fair shot. They sound great listening to the one side, I can only imagine what they will sound like when both sides are working, lol.
