I just won a Philips 963SA

Like the title says, I just won a Philips 963SA CD/SACD/DVD player for $200.00. I believe these ran $400.00-$500.00 new? So, not a bad price for one in excellent condition.

Anyone have any experience with this particular player? If so, how is the SACD performance? I'll still be using my CAL Aria for redbook unless the Philips proves to be a better player.

Thanks.

I have one of those, and not only is the redbook playback good, with the same mastering, it's audibly identical to the SACD playback. It's a good player, but DVD playback can be temperamental with damaged or dirty DVD-Rs.

See ya

Thanks Steve.

Question...Did you prefer 96 or 192 with the upsampling? For some reason I tend to prefer 96 unless the player does really well at 192.

I couldn't detect any improvement by selecting upsampling. I ended up leaving it off. Why muck around with the sample rate if it doesn't help?
