Smiletron

By far the best. When I heard "Smiletron-Override" on a stream I almost fell off my chair

I LOVE that guy. He's one of my favorite artists. Ever.

A couple other chiptune artists:

Anamanaguchi

Aivi & Surasshu

Ben Landis

Boy Without Batteries

Crying

jefftheworld

Protodome

Kartmaze

Kubbi

There are tons more out there, but those are just my personal favorite few. Most of them aren't full-fledged game sounding music though, and some even fakebit. There are also a lot of chiptune records/compilations out there, e.g. Ubiktune, Noise Channel, Bleep Street, The Basebit Records, 8bitpeoples, Chiptunes=win, chipmusicheroes, etc...

Also if you like chiptune you might like Retrowave too. It's a genre of that 80's electronic music. The sound of the future. Wow.

We can't talk about Chiptunes if it weren't for the awesome video game music of the 80s and 90s!!   In particular, I would like to recommend composer Yuzo Koshiro:

Not a real famous game, but some 8bit humble beginnings!!

Picking one track from this game is tough, but this might still be the coolest BOSS music in a game yet!

This soundtrack is ahead of its time.  It was perceived a little too weird when it came out, but if you are into electronic music... check out some more tracks from this game and you will hear all kinds of stuff that is popular now.  It still blows my mind hearing what Yuzo did with the friggin' Z80 sound chip on the Genesis!  In 1994!!   :basshead:
