My colleage were in Japan, I asked him to help buy while he's in Japan.
He asked me which one? ad2000 or ad2000x from yodobashi.com, I was like WHATTTT???

Perhaps what he mean is a pre-order for AD2000X?

No, he's not a head fier, he's just asking a regular question.
I mean, I didn't know ad2000x is already released in Japan.

TIME TO SAVE UP MONEY !!!!

I would buy a AD2000x right now if I didn't need dental work, and knew where to find them. I wonder what the improvements are, but knowing Audio Technica they will be improved.

Also I wonder how the Ad900x sound now that they are modeled more like the Ad2000, they made them fully open. That's for another thread though.

Very interested in the AD900x myself as well. Hopefully the bass is much improved. Been waiting for an update to the air series for ages. I do like that they've made the cheaper models look more expensive but now it's hard to differentiate between them. Don't like that they've gotten rid of the metal jack.

Oh no, the rubber jack made it look like a $50 headphones.
I wonder what the justifications are? Certainly not aesthetic, sound? I doubt it, price? I don't think so, so what then?

Would really like to add the original AD2000 to my collection! Have a question though, I am using the AT-HA5000 amplifier driving my W5000's and ESW9's, would you say (those who have heard AD2000's) that their sound signature is somewhere inbetween the W5000 and ESW9? Really thinking of buying these soon, also from what I have been reading I am under the impression that the new AD2000x doesn't differ too much sonically over the originals... right? confused.gif Cheers,

just by curiosity where did you read that , is there any review out there , even in japanese that compare both ? confused_face_2.gif , i can't respond to your question cause i never listened to W5000 or ESW9 frown.gif

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ad2000x isn't that much of a change from the AD2k. That's just speculation of course but many upgrades to previous models haven't been that much better ime.

Well AD2000 driver touching hears can be a real issue for some , for me it's ok but sometimes i have to repositione the phone cause it bother me a bit , so if they find a way to keep the same sound or almost the same and with drivers enclosure not touching the hear with a more ticky pad , just this could be a nice upgrade for many ^^ .

I guess that's true. The only issue I have is the springy cable which I may get recabled to a balanced one so may be moot anyway and the clamp when it was new was a bit much but loosened a bit over time. If the AD2000x came in a balanced and replaceable cable instead that would be a no brainer for me but alas it is not meant to be.

This is originally in Japanese (will give link), they don't compare both but give some insight into the new model, though reading this article along with another I have found not sure if the sonics will be drastically different, which imo is a good thing...

"What has changed from the previous model, the arm band is now made from a shape memory alloy steel, ear pads that will be in contact with the surface contour of the face, to ensure the volume of the bass.In addition, except that on the back of the unit surface soldered cable connection, the sound I got out of the direction of the unit 360 degrees. In addition, the newly designed diffuser to spread the air inside the housing, and the pursuit of the spread of the sound. "We will be tuning with an emphasis on the volume of the bass driver specially designed baffle and new development, such as ear pads" thing with (employee company description)".

Of course this is all speculation until we can hear the AD2000X and directly compare with the original, though for me I am safer with going with the AD2000, since price will be better and I have no problems with fit on my W5000, so AD2000 should fit fine as well. Can't wait to here some impressions hopefully coming soon! Cheers.

Ok thanks ^^ , allready have seen this link , but as you pointed out , there no significal speach about difference in sound wich seams good too :) (didn't paid attention when first read it) , will follow it closely too .

AD2000X pads seam ticker but puting AD2000X pads on AD2000 should alter the sound . I will think twice before but if AD2000X sound exactly as AD2000 and no touching driver issue , i will sure be tempted .
