I ordered a box set (new) the other day (The Rules of Hell by Black Sabbath) and some of the jewel cases came with large scuffs/scratches, but no cracks. The jewel cases seem to be made differently from regular ones, so I'd rather not have to replace them. Is there any way to polish off scratches from a jewel case?

When I listened to the sound for the 1st time, I was hit by it. I was punched by the not-punchy-bass. I was hoping it would offer much better bass response than SE315.. equals to Klipsch Image...

Nope, I am 99 percent sure any attempt to polish the plastic will make it much worse.

Sure, you can polish plastic. The least expensive way is to use Brasso. Put some on a paper towel or cloth and it will polish out light scratches. If the scratches are heavy, use 0000 steel wool to rub them out and then polish with Brasso.
I've used this technique on plenty of acrylic watch crystals and fountain pens. It works great.
You might also want to look at Novus plastic polish. I use it, too, but Brasso is hard to beat for the price.

BTW, they're scratches that you can feel, not light scratches. They're not cracks though.

Any normal copper or silver polish will work. Tooth paste works fine also.
Polishing the window of a phone, mp3 player or other gadgets is possible.

Brasso is good for most any plastic but to get the surface "like new" with no visible scuffs/swirls you'll need plastic polish...IME.

I have tried many different materials, from toothpaste to many professional car finish compounds of the fines cut available. The finest car finish compounds work very well(from a foot or so it looks perfect - but close examination reveals imperfections easily), but not good enough for say, optical grade polishing. If you want absolutely perfect polishing with no imperfections, you need to use a plastic polish specifically listed/designed for acrylic lens/optical use. You will likely have to order this online. Realize you may have to do the re-surfacing in steps, and if it's a severe scratch/scuff, even including starting with sandpapers, wet sanding from say 1000 grit, to 2000 grit to 2500 grit, then starting with coarse polishing compound to fine ones, then finally completing with the optical grade polish.

You can rub out the scratches using progressively finer steel wool, 00 to 000 to 0000. You can also wet sand with 600-2000 grit automotive sandpaper. This will leave find scratches, but you can use Brasso or other plastic polishes to remove them.
