Sleek SA6 vs UE super.fi 5 EB bass performance?

My EBs got stolen along with my iPod the other day so I was looking at new earbuds to replace them with and the bass on them spoiled me so I probably couldn't stand anything with less bass.

(Of course, why not just get the same thing again? Well I want to try something new and also something smaller since those things were huge.)

So how does the bass+ port compare to the bass performance on the EB?

On another note, do the tips from the EB fit on the SA6? I still have all my replacement tips so I might want to see how well they work with the new earbuds.

Significantly less quantity, significantly better quality. And the SA6 murders the Superfi 5 EB in almost everything else.

^ Agreed. The SA6's and the 5EB really aren't even in the same league, IMO. Get the SA6's, you may take a hit in the amount of bass, but you'll discover a whole new world of detail and vibrancy that you missed out with the brain-thumping 5EB.

that depends on what you're looking for. to me, sa6 is not musical(like super fi 5 pro), not fun(like eb), but also not detail enough(er4). i don't like it at all. if you liked your eb, why not super fi 5 pro? it's sure an upgrade.

Sounds good to me, actually I already ordered the SA6, but it hasn't shipped yet so I still had the chance of canceling the order (which I won't to now).

How does it stack up when you do the mod on the bass+ port? Or hopefully Sleek will release new bass++ ports for people like me.

Edit: Posted this before seeing fhuang's post. I didn't really like how the EBs fit (too big and uncomfortable). And I think the super.fi 5 pro had the same form factor? Correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, from what I hear, these are supposed to be small and comfortable.

Ha ha, I use the bass+ port and treble++ (extended treble) and I love it that way. The bass is amazing, nice clean and clear but it still thumps in your head too (if listening to the right songs anyway).

Absolutely rubbish. Have you even heard the SA6's? It's definitely one of the most musical and fun IEMs I've ever heard. As for detail, with the ++ treble port, it's easily as detailed as the ER4, but with much more bass capability. Compared to the SF5 Pro and EB, the SA6s kills them on all three categories. No, I really don't think you've heard the SA6s, or owned them long enough to experiment with the treble tubes and bass ports.

X2 on that. Doubt that poster ever gave the Sleeks much of a chance. For the money, now under $200, they rule.

That's the best thing about the SA6. They are pretty much the UM1 of the $200 price range, sound wise they are probably the most well-rounded of all IEMs and will fit all music genres nicely. When it comes to other factors like isolation, comfort, ease of insertion and value it's top notch. The only weakness will probably be its build quality, but it isn't too bad in that area.

The build quality is somewhat questionable. I somehow broke mine at the point they enter the chrome housing on the treble tube side. I emailed then and they asked me to send it in. I sent just that one piece and they got it yesterday. Build quiality wont be much of an issue if they send me a replacement. They were only 3 weeks old when it broke.

Dont anyone jump on me and say it was my fault. It may have been, not sure really, all I know is I baby my stuff and im not sure how it could have happened. All I know is Im lost without them and I hope it all works out. Im saying this with Sure SE530 in my ears and I still want them back bad.

I had a similar thing happen, with the black plastic ring around the driver opening. They sent me two new driver housings (I sent the old ones back), and so far, no more breakage. But it is something to watch. It didn't affect the sound, but if it turns out to be an issue, my guess is they can somehow eliminate the plastic ring, if we are talking about the same issue. Otherwise, build quality has been pretty good. The more things that can "chip" off, the higher the liklihood of something breaking, of course. Sure the Sleek folks are following these threads, and they may want to take a look at that black gasket (for lack of a better term) on future designs. It seems to be a weak spot.

Sounds like a similar problem, I have full confidence they will treat me right. I have no reason to believe they wont and lots of reasons to believe they will with all the great customer service feedback. I really miss them. I dont know why I like them better then the SE530 but I just do.

I totally wish that I could demo all 3 side-by-side. That's very hard to do here in Canada.

So I rely on your guys' opinions for making my final decision. But for sure my choice is down to these 3 models.

Scratch the SF 5EB from your list. That makes two, right?

Oh, they will do right by you. Just hope the black plastic ring chipping off isn't a recurring problem. If it is, they will have to make an adjustment in manufacturing. I know Sleek moved its manufacturing back to the states, I believe.
