Thread Starter
I got a Sennheiser HD650 so I want to know which is the best Amp for it

my source is a Auzentech X-Plosion modded with National Semiconductor LM4562NA-ND opamps

my needs are movies, games, hip hop, pop, blues, trance, romantic, electronic, instrumental & a little bit of rock

my budget is $500 (including shipping to India)

i have the same questions too. Over few days of doing research, i come up with Darkvoice 332 and Little Dot IV SE. They are both under 400 so fit perfectly with my wallet.

Following amps are good pairs for HD650

RSA Raptor
PPA
Dynahi

I own none of the above but I have heard Raptor and Dynahi with 650. PPA is being repeatedly suggested by many people here. Currently I'm using Gilmore Lite, which is also very good. If I have more budget, I would certainly go with one of the above three amps.

Agree on the Darkvoice 332. With the right tubes, it has been really, really good with the HD650's.

I have a Graham Slee Solo for my HD650s and it's amazing. Supposedly that's that amp Sennheiser uses to demo those headphones.

for 500 bucks, look into the gilmore lite, any of the little dot amps, darkvoice seems to have a good following as well. however, be warned, while money may not directly correlated to quality...a 500 dollar amp will not push the 650s to their full capabilities. my first setup was the prelude feeding the little dot mk v with the 650s. sounded excellent for the price. but again, it would be extremely hard to find the "best" amp for the 650s for less than 500 dollars. good luck.

If you want to push the 650s over the top get a balanced amp. You won't regret it.

no balanced amps for less than 500 bucks

i would go for either gilmore lite or littledot mk5

the earmax pro has great synergy with the 650's as well...i used one goes for about 400-600 clams

The Purity Audio KICAS Caliente LOVES the HD650 and drives them beautifully across all genres, IMO.
It's worth a look at:

Hey crappyjones123. I was thinking about getting the HD 650 or maybe the HD 600 to be driven by my prelude feeding the little dot MK V. Just wondering what your current setup is if different than above? And if it is different, why you decided to change it? I like the sound of my D2000's, but curiosity is about to kill my wallet I do believe. Sorry about the hijack Udit.
