CDs: Light scratches?

I've noticed very light, thin scratches on many of my CDs. They aren't deep and don't affect play (as far as I know), and you can usually only see them at certain lighting angle, but they still bug me. I recently started making copies of all my CDs to keep the master copies in the best condition possible, but having those scratches just... bug me (did I mention that already?). Anyone know of a professional/store-bought solution that can just remove cosmetic light scratches?

Don't do it. The commercial products simply try to polish the surface with light abrasives, causing more micro-scratches. Can you figure out what is causing the scratches?

If it doesn't affect play, leave it be. As the old saying goes, "Only God is perfect."

Rip it to lossless with EAC and you won't ever tell the difference.

EAC can read through some gouges in the foil, so light scratches won't be a problem.

I thought it was If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Yours works too.

I use one of those electric scratch removal gadgets only if I find an abused disc that won't play. Plastic polish has almost no abrasive and might remove very fine scratches.

So there's no such thing as a scratch remover that doesn't cause micro-scratches or swirls?

And another thing, sometimes when I rip scratched or used CDs on EAC, the error correction dots become bright red on one line for like a second, and the reading ends up near perfect (at least 99.9%). Even though it's fine when ripped through EAC, is it possible that it might not play properly on some CD players (even if it's just a small click)?

Yes, there is, but it ain't cheap and it takes a lot of effort. Amazon.com: DVD Repair Machine / Kit: Electronics I own one and it can remove some MAJOR scratches and leaves the CD as smooth as a baby's butt. Plan on putting some major time into each disc, however; it's a really slow process.

Every other brand that I've used leaves more scratches than before.
