Rudistor XJ-03 - Just Arrived - Early Pictures

I just received my Rudistor XJ-03. Here are some very quick pictures. A few of the unit by itself. One to show size comparison to the iQube. And the others showing its early integration into a portable rig. The pictures of the portable rig show the Rudistor with iMod, Edition 9's and ALO interconnects and adapters.

Couple of initial observations. Build quality is excellent as expected although I wish the volume knob were heavier and more "accurate feeling". The jacks are tight and seem heavier duty than the iQube and comparable to Headroom micro. The charger is huge but comes with a variety of plugs presumably for any outlet configuration anywhere in the world. I wish the batteries were replaceable.

I haven't listened much thus far, but notice a tight accurate presentation. Perhaps not as neutral as iQube, but better bass response and tightness. I love the simple, industrial design. More on the sonics when I've listened more than 15 minutes.

Thanks for the pics and early impressions!

Isn't this amp too heavy for portable use?

Actually, the amp is very light weight. The batteries add the primary heft to the overall feel. It weighs less than the Headroom micro portable and about the same as the IQube. It des feel a bit "chunkier" than either, but the aluminum housing helps keep the weigh down.

Care to take a photo of the insides, very curious as to what's in there.

Anything like an introductory discount, or did you have to pay full list?

According to Rudi website, the XJ03 weighs only 100g so it is very light compared to many others.

I think the magnesium alloy casing is the key to the light weight. Sony was the first to introduce magnesium alloy casing to cut down on portable appliance weight. It is supposed to be more expensive and impact resistant than extruded aluminum casings.

I have just ordered mine and it is now on the way. Hope to get it coming week.

I'm rather keen about a more detailed review about the sound quality of this amp!
as compared to iQube since you have both of them.

I hope amp manufacturers aren't all going this way, with the inputs & outputs all over the place.

The iQube all on the back & the XJ-03 with the input on the back & the output on the front.

There are some people who actually put their portables in their pocket. For those of us, these two amps are a no go regardless of the sound...

Very interested in comparisons with the iqube and in particular how they sound with the Edition 9. Keep the impressions coming!

Yeah, I'm very interested in hearing your comparison of this with the iQube via the Edition 9s. I imagine I will be purchasing the iQube regardless as this amp is too fresh to go off and snatch over one set of impressions.. but, given the hard-to-miss synergy reports of rudi amps and the Ed 9s, this is interesting

I almost wish this didn't happen. I knew I was overdue for an audiophile world development for my uses..

Just keep using the LISA till more impressions on the Rudistor become available.
