Man thanks for uploading the pictures! They are gorgeous!
Hey Sanderman, how you like them compared to your PS1000?

sweet. one day (maybe).

Yes, those pictures are stunning. From what I understand, the earlier bass light R-10, came with a case that had white contrast stitching on it. Later, the bass heavy version came with a case that had black stitching. Is this true? In any case, the King of Headphones still reigns supreme. I'm going to cry like a bitch here; why can't anyone make headphones like these anymore!? Uuugh! O.K., O.K., I just had to get it out of my system...

R10 balanced extension cable

I've had my R10s modified to have balanced connectors. And I would like to buy an extension cable (left and right balanced channels) to go from the R10s to the balanced inputs on my RSA B-52.

Any recommendations on extension cables that are true to the R10 sound? I assume I could use any 5m balanced interconnects, but not sure if the impedance of a "regular" interconnect is a mismatch? Thanks!

bal R10 + B52 is nice. you should grab a bal 800 for comparison purposes.

vcoheda, I directly compared the bal R10s to the bal 800s at Ray Samuels' place, on his B-52. I heard the bal 800s first and like them very much. But then listened to the bal R10s, and it was no contest in my opinion. I ended up returning my 800s within the 30-day return period, and bought a pair of R10s.

Thanks! To the mini-meet: okay! Let's try to set a date and notify some people (Anouk, Blackmore, Chimpie were in - maybe we can do something at the newly renovated shop of Qables?).
To selling my L3000 (joking): You already had NO - and you can FORGET yes

the cd1k/cd3k sound so good to me, that I got a hard time imagining how good these could sound?! ah well, I'm already worried that my +15yo drivers could start rattling someday...some cd3k's are know to handle low end bass very poorly due to aging. so w/o spare drivers, a R10 is quite a gamble...except if you put it in a humidity controlled room or sumthing?

It's a shiny 63˚F morning in Ann Arbor. I've got my back on a "pillow" of a seat, windows open, a few classical CDs on the line up and the R10 on my head =

Reminds me why these sorts of headphones were made in the first place! To get absolutely absorbed into music and have nothing else in between.

I understand the later production is said to be bassier...and that each pair came w/ a booklet signed by the engineer who assembled it. but not FR graphs? like the HD800 owners who asked for them and whine because of tiny spikes? OMG I can hear it!!!!
