Sony MDR-R10 Owner's Club - Page 31

Damn 36 bids @ US $4250 on a zero rating seller out of eBay?

Still not even at the sniping phase yet.

---

lol two late snipes concluded the auction with 41 bids @ US $5151. That's a lot of faith, if you know what I mean.

NOS pair I got for Xmas. Less than 5 hours on them... Does anyone know how long these last?

I accidentally stumbled across this page because I have the Sony MDR-10R, but not the R10. I never knew Sony made such high end headphones!

Yes, hopefully. No one can say how long these headphones will last for you. It depends on how well you treat them.

Indeed, but what about those bio-cellulose drivers? If they haven't been used, they could certainly last one or two decades... That's the sad thing about the R-10, while extraordinary its life is ultimately limited.

Nice Upgraded cable! Who made them and how much? Thxs:cool:

when i buy R10 #365 it already come with that cable.

the upgrade cable is by TOXIC Cable UK where you can contact their company through head-fi.

the cable and the workmanship is 700pounds according to old post about R10 #365 on head-fi,

which also mention the cable it self is a high grade silver plated copper cable much purer than the original R10 cable with furutech carbon balance xlr connector and its xlr to 6.3 converter

Sound-wise, it doesn't change the overall sound signature of the R10 but just improve it with more detail and extension on soundstage/tighter bass and slightly more refine treble giving a more euphony to the headphone.

Hi, guys:

Mine is No.808 bass light made in 1992. I was wondering how many R10 were made exactly? Some said 2000 but David Mahler believes somewhere around 1300. Is there anyone knowing the accurate number?

And another point, which version is less, bass heavy or light? I was wondering that, Sony manufactured 808 R10s within nearly three years, why did some people buy brand new R10 bass heavy version whose serial number are around 1000-1100 from Amazon in 2003-2004? Did Sony stop making R10 for several years during 1990s?

Cheers,

Stanley

What is the inner size (Height and width in milliliters)  of SONY MDR – 10R ear pads?

and also it has a vent on the top of cups, some people say they let in lot of noise, and therefore passive noise canceling is bad. is it correct?

This may be the wrong thread. Here's an MDR-10R thread.

The cushions are about 60 mm x 42 mm on the inside, and for a passive set, they block out noise unexpectedly well. I thought the same thing when I saw the vents, but because they are behind the speaker drivers, I don't think they affect isolation much.
