Straight out of Japan, not available in North America, why do the Japanese get all the good toys?
I have had these for just over 2 months now and these are my go to portable...
Reposting my original review from Amazon.com - these headphones are just too good to be left in the dustbin of history - for instance, I just bought a pair of Monoprice MEP-933, listed everywhere...
Somehow, the Ballad of Jed Clampett comes to mind, as I start to write this. You know, the Beverly Hillbillies. He was living his life, struck gold, and everything changed. That's kind of what...
Hi, Head-fiers. This is my first post as a newbie in the forum.
I will give a short introduction of myself. I am 18 years old currently studying in high-school. I love headphones because...
I really like the 1185 due to much more bass than the 764. It is on par with my HE90 now. Just different flavors. I've got some active shielding on the 1185 too which plugs into the Enigma. Not sure it makes lots of difference, haven't really tested yet.
I've got a pair of R10's too, Ed! Like you, I quite like them. I'm not in Cayman at the moment, so I couldn't tell you the serial number. They're a later-year model, probably in built and purchased in 2003 when I was really going crazy with my headphone lust.
My one and only pair (left) is #368. I love my R10! Wish I kept my others R10(#284, #996, & #764).
Shoot! You've had 4 pairs?!?! I'll bet anything that you made enough money by buying and selling the others that the pair you now have was more or less free. You dirty dog, you!

Wayne,
Not exactly man. I sold all of my R10s for less than $3800 so I didn't exactly make much money. Trust me, I wish I kept all of them. Selling them was one of my biggest regret.
Got one of the last pairs sold from Yodabashi posted SN# long time ago, now do not care as they are so far here to stay. Have Orpheus too, but drive with Stax amp, so while also pleasing, and some music definitely prefere.g. pleasure dome 45rpm, overall R10s still reign as kings in my music world.
