Voted Bach - currently rehearsing Mass in B Minor for a pre-Christmas performance and hoping I'll be up to it physically, given I'm singing both main and chamber choir.

mozart is the most complete artist of the three.

he wrote many masterpieces in all composition types. bach's success is largely sacred music and concertos. beethoven's best works are largely the symphonies, concertos, and chamber music plus sonatas. that makes him even more diverse than bach. but mozart was accomplished at everything - sacred music, symphonies, concertos, chamber music, sonatas, plus all those amazing operas. however, if one has a preference for the baroque the composer of choice will be bach and if romantic, then beethoven. but mozart is in the middle position and did everything they did plus more.

Beethoven bridged the gap between classical and romantic music. His compositions represent each era distinctly (the earlier classical, the later much more romantic). His compositions together have style, whim, and passion. So he gets my vote. But as a music major, I'll say that it is not right to put these composers up next to each other. Each one was revolutionary in their time and each one achieved tremendous accomplishments.

To me, Beethoven and Mozart were innovators and giants. But they were "of their time", especially Mozart. Late Beethoven approaches the transcendent, but almost all of Bach is already at that level. Thus, Bach is the greater composer.
