Amazing and sad that ASR went from being a contributing member(his ASR name is bold blue so i assume) to saying that was his last post on headfi.

I would love to know exactly what was said that HAD to have an emergency deletion if someone would like to e-mail it to me.

Its a shame to lose a member, but i guess he wants honesty whether positive or negative as long as its true, and that just cant happen here as far as hes concerned determining from his implication in his last post , in his aparent opinion "alegedly".

If all you can do is kiss A_ _ and not say how you really feel about a product, manufacturer or whatever, then we may as well buy Bose, Monster, or any other over-hyped fanboy product and look at the whole world through rose-colored glasses and think everything is beautiful. No need for any reviews, just suck up the propaganda.
If something stinks, i want to know about it....as long as people are honest about it.
I dont care if its a headfi member, or bose, or apple, or bestbuy, dr dre beats, or what.......if my honest review of a product is that its an over-priced waste of plastic,metal, and wire,,,then so be it.

Im wondering .....If ASR doesnt just leave and actually deletes his account entirely......does all his reviews vanish with him?

Why not? We have a skilled and knowledgeable DIY community. I'm sure more than one head-fi'er has opened their RSA amps to see whats inside and get an idea for how it works.

Maybe there are simple issues at play that have escaped Ray's notice. Maybe there are no issues at all, and the anecdotal problems quoted in my first post are a result of one-off defects, shipping damage, bad tubes, or so forth.

I havent made this thread to start a hate war or to vindicate any dislike of my own. I've made it with the desire to be proved wrong, to be disabused of an initially negative experience with hard facts. If such information doesnt surface, that's fine. But to say that nothing positive or conclusive could possibly come of this thread is IMO jumping the gun.

I'm not sure that the complaint is with a particular manufacturer but it could be that the underlying problem is that the forum does not allow free exchange of ideas without emotional reactions. We need to understand that any opinions are just that ... opinions. This is a very subjective hobby. I like the sound that comes from ADI op amps. Others like the Burr Brown sound. Neither of us is right or wrong. I should not be critical of someone else's opinion just because it is different. The other point that I saw in this thread and that I am concerned about is the possible censorship of ideas by removing threads and/or posts with no explaination.

I don't want to put words in asr's mouth but if this was what he was concerned about, I understand it completely.

My Tomahawk when I had it was extremely quiet as well.

The Predator was quite noisy when using the USB DAC with my computer. Way too high to use with IEMS.

Guys, about the designing....

I think that people who argue that Ray's stuff is poorly designed should look elsewhere because many people would argue otherwise. Trust your own ears I guess. If it sounds good to you and works - who cares?

*EDITED OUT SECTION - PERSONAL COMMENT*

Then again, there are those people who just want to believe that they have the best and play off that their purchases are that much better than the other guys. A good example would be the UE10/11 vs. LW vs. FreQ debacle.


I do NOT own a single piece of RSA equipment or have in the past. I tend to like a more bright, clear sound.

I can say that the new SR71a that is coming out is nothing short of impressive and making me want to try living beyond my means a little bit.
