How big upgrade is UE Super.Fi 3 from Sony MDR-EX71

New here.
I have been using Sony MDR-EX71 past 3-4 years.
I was thinking of upgrading and I have UE Super.Fi 3 on my radar.

Would the SQ difference be a lot if I get UE Super.Fi 3 or I need to consider Super.Fi 5 Pro ?

I don't want to be in a situation where in I get UE Super.Fi 3 and the improvement in SQ is not that great.

Link to Amazon product description of Sony MDR-EX71 for reference.

EDIT : Wanted to add that I will be using it recently bought Corda 2MOVE amp.

You'll gain clarity, but you'll lose some bass. But it's a nice step into the world of audiophile IEM's

s.fi5 pro if you want to keep the bass also it will be tighter bass.

I too was using the Sonys for a few years then moved to a pair of Super.Fi Pros recently.

In terms of sound, they have much more detail and a better, more punchier bass response with oomph to it. The mids are a little recessed though, which imo is good for some songs but not for others.

The only real complaint I have is that coming from the Sonys, they're not nearly as comfortable.

All in all, if I were you, I'd upgrade to something like the Super.Fi Pros or the Shure se310/se420. For me, the Super.Fi 3s wouldn't offer sufficient improvement in sound over the Sonys to justify the reduction in comfort (since they'd feel pretty much the same as the Pros but not sound as good).

I used the MDR-EX70s for some time and briefly tested a pair of Super.fi 3s and don't really recall it being much better. Either way, I wasn't convinced of upgrading.

I did end up going with Super.fi 5 Pros though and that was a world of difference. To me, there was a distinct upgrade in clarity throughout and the bass never sounded anywhere near that precise on the Sonys.

Thank you all for your inputs.
I think I will skip the upgrade to UE Super.Fi 3.

The next best option is UE Super.Fi 5 Pro and the price range is in the same vicinity as q-jays. I was wondering what other options do I have.

I like bright highs, good forward vocals and clear detail thumbing bass. And yes clarity & good separation is also a prime expectation.

If my expectations sound a lot, I am willing to compromise on the bass aspect.

Any suggestions ?

I'll have to wait for some time though before I make the purchase. Since my initial budget was for something in the UE 3 range.
