Denon D2000/D5000, MD2000/MD5000 Thread! - Page 226

I recabled the D2000 a couple of days ago using the Plussound SPC wires and the treble has really improved compared to the stock cable. I now enjoy the cans.

Bought it about 2 yrs ago and hardly use it. My son has been using it playing online games most of the time. Now I think I need to find him a replacement. :)

Anyway, here is a shot of my setup.

Looks great!  How long is the cable?  Looks like you shortened it a bit.

Anyone find their Fatmat/Dynamat?  I'd love to get it in the mail to me and will gladly pay you for it and your time - just shoot me a number and your paypal email.  I'll PM you my address - whichever of you two wants to.

Thanks. The new cable is about 4.5 ft long, and yes much shorter than the monster stock cable. :)

Ya know, it seems about six months since you first started the process of getting your D2000's....................probably feels longer to you.

no that sounds about right, Brian actually shiped the D2k to Mark today... but with my name on the Box... LAWL

but no big deal, the address is Marks so the name won't make a differeance honestly. I've had USPS drop off mail to my address for people that didn't even exist [I'll save that story for another day]

What are the cans out there with sound signature similar to the D2000's but improved?

Probably the D5000 and D7000 Haha

The Fostex models TH600 and TH900 are the evolution of the old Denon models.

As for sound signature, if I recall correctly the D2000s are much more forward than the others. The D2000 bass was rock solid compared to the others.

Does anyone know if there are replacements for those little rubber nubs covering the cable when it comes out of the cup? I think one of mine may be coming apart.

Not sure how much improvement over the D2000, but with the recabled  D2000 sounds really good to my ears. Well "really good" may be a understatement. Before the recabling, I didn't like the treble.

Major shout out to Casper - he sent me, as did Fearless1, a bit of Dynamat to Lawton tune my D2000 cups (the Martin Custom Cocobolo Rosewood cups which were extra deep, and honestly, a bit extra boomy).  Took them apart after listening to one of my bass test tracks, got busy in the garage and within a half an hour had them put back together.  Fired up the same track, turned it up and got that stupid smile on my face.  Success!

Honestly don't know who originally came up with the idea of using Dynamat to sharpen up the bass, but it flat works gents.  The headphones are now the equal of how it was with the stock cups (which had Lawton tuning) and now the looks match the sound.  But imagine a deeper D2000 that has no boomyness - that's what I have.

Thanks again!

honestly, I can say the same about my HE 400, stock cable I found it to be WAY to bright and the treble wonked me out, with the Toxic Cable I got, it was... almost brighter but... the treble did sound much better. I'll b getting my HE 4 fitted with Wood Cups and a Copper Recable, along with my W1000x just as soon as I get my D2K back... Lawton got it Thursday according to USPS but no word from him -.-

Gave him 3 weeks advance notice... going to start spamming his email >.> of I don't hear from em soon
