That is, aside from how the cups attach to the frame, is everything else about the size of the cups between the Fostex line and the old Denon line the same? Could I theoretically attach Fostex TH600/900 cups onto Denon D2k/5k/7k?

I want to know the reverse - can I fit D5000 cups on my pair of TH600s?

LOL well wouldn't the answer to my question (if the cups are the same size) also answer yours? Hopefully someone like Oregonian can confirm.

Yeah true lol. I'm wondering if wood cups on the th600s would smooth out the top end a bit.

You could try putting some felt inside the cups.

yeah, getting a second pair means that at least i can keep enjoying the first pair while the second pair is getting done! :)

and once they're done, i can decide what to do with the first pair...keep them stock, get them modded as well, or pass them onto someone else to enjoy or get modded for themselves!

and then i need to delete my head-fi account and stop spending money on headphones! aha.

xD good idea, I would do a serious comparison of Stock vs Modded, then sell your stock to another lucky head fi member <3

I always buy two sets of the same headphones so I can have one available at all times.

Yes, you were warned...........but the end is in sight and you now know they exist so that's a good thing. Polished the cups and all..........you are going to be blown away by them.

Re cups interchangibility. I'm pretty sure they do both directions as DemonFox put Alpha pads on his TH600 and said it was just like his D5000.

Re TH600 cups. I think Lawton Audio is making cups for both Fostex phones and does his damping which should help that top end issue you're having.

Hey guys,

I am a very envious newbie to the headphone scene, and after reading my first couple of reviews and a fair portion of this thread, desperately desire a pair of Denon d2000's. I haven't had much luck (living in Australia) finding a pair that are affordable (personal budget of 3-$400aud).

So my question to you all, what is the most similarly sounding headphones you've managed to find, that resemble your beloved denon d2k/d5k headphones?

I've tried Sony MDR-1R in shops, and have been suggested Bayerdynamic dt770 pro's. How do the Sony's compare?

I'm open to suggestions outside of my budget, in an attempt to find secondhand/used or sale items.

Thanks, everyone.
