now this is interesting - I might try this - where did u put the bluetac?

Pretty much like what's taught in MarkL's 'finest dynamic' thread. I torn the white fibre thing they already had in the D2K away (kept it), and then put bluetac all over the cup, including the middle white-ish piece. Then at the back of the driver where the black circles lies, I dampened the two inner circles.

I didn't bother experimenting the optimum amount of dampening... Results were good enough XD

Thinking about getting either a pair of D2000 or D5000 since I've read that they're very musical sounding and work well with most types of music. Though I'm just wondering if the D5000 are worth the extra money? I mean, the D5000 almost cost twice as much as the D2000 blink.gif.

Also, does anyone know how well D2000/D5000 pair with a Matrix M-stage?

They say the drivers are identical, only difference is the cable and the wooden cups.

If you got the money, then yes, if not, then I would say no.

I can't speak for the D5K's though.

The D5000 sounds better but I don't think it's really recommended in that price range.

You should buy Audeze LCD-2 or HD 800 or something like that.

I'm about to take the plunge and buy the D5000.  I had the chance to sample the D7000 and it was absolutely amazing (Beyer Dynamic DT990/600 is going back)

The DT990's drove me insane, coming from the Q701 I wanted bass.  I got bass, but sadly horrible uncontrolled highs.

I really wanted to buy the D7000 but for the improvements I have been reading, it just doesn't warrant that price increase.

D5000 $476 Fulfilled by Amazon

D7000 $799 or $999 fulfilled by Amazon.

The D5000 will be paired with the Matrix M-Stage.  Hope I'm making the right decision.

You can get the D7000 for $585 from Electronics Expo, new in open box (which is what I did). They ARE new. Just opened to mark down the price. The headphones were untouched.

Sounds like a great home setup. Enjoy!

The M Stage's output impedance is too high for proper damping. You need 3 ohms or less... not that it makes a huge difference.

Just got my d2000s, and got chills listening to them.

Anybody know if a little dot mk3 would pair nicely with a markled denon lad-5000 lite. would be using dac from essence stx soundcard. Thanks

Guys I need some advice :)

I have the chance to buy the STOCK D5K's wire and I was wondering what difference does this make to:

-The bending problem of the D2K's

-The SQ

I have no soldering skills either - but I could ask my dad for some advice there :)

Also, I'm in the process of looking in getting some STOCK D5K cups - what mods do I have to do in order to fit my D2K's drivers?

I saw some mods...but from what I understand, I just need to make the hole a little deeper?

I'm darn excited 0.0

EDIT:
Bought the D5K cups and a D7K wire!

Just starting to be active in the forums and decided to give a shout-out to Denons. Got the d2000 from JR back in the summer. Thought about selling them to fund custom iems but couldn't let them go after another listen. haha

D2K's + ZO2 = vibrating earpads.

I also have something to say about the Denons: given the proper source componenets, I think we can consider these true hi-fi headphones.  I know they don't cost $1000 but I think they are at a level of fidelity where more expensive headphones might sound different, but probably don't sound "better."

My 0.02, and in fact it's worth even less because I've never heard a $1000 pair of headphones.  I just have a feeling about it.
