Vancouver, partly because they had pretty flowers while we had snow in Alberta.

I've never been to Europe, but I've been to Japan and China. I wouldn't live in either of those places unless I had an upper class salary.

Monaco of course
No taxes, casinos, not over crowded.

NYC. Wouldn't live anywhere else—and believe me, I've tried. Sure, it's expensive, but the provincialism I've run into elsewhere always creeps me out.

I like living in the north as it is now. I can't tolerate hot weather at all and seeing how people call California's 35-degree oven perfect weather is mind-boggling. Couldn't live without white nights in the summer and dark, cold winters either. I'm pretty happy here but Canada or Alaska would probably be fine as well.

Anywhere that has a 711.

My favorite cities so far, for differing reasons and in no particular order:

St Louis, Senegal
London, England
Taroudennt, Morocco
Philadelphia, PA, USA
Portland, OR, USA

Ya, but the problem with Monte Carlo is that it's about the most expensive place in the world and there are more obnoxious snobs per capita than any 'normal' (meaning well adjusted and self-made, as opposed to 'born with a gold spoon in mouth') man could ever put up with. But if you don't mind paying 5 Euro (about $8) for a plain bagel, I suppose it would be a nice place to live.

Well, Monocle just ranked Copenhagen (Denmark) as the "best" city in the world for quality life.
Copenhagen named worlds best city for quality of life by Monocle magazine - Telegraph

I have been visiting Copenhagen numerous time (50+) and love it. So fully understand why it stand out as #1.

Not just the magazine, but many other quality of life studies have put Denmark on top. Even 60 Minutes did a report on this. Sorry, but any country (the U.S.) that doesn't have a health insurance program for its citizens can't, in my book, be considered in the "best" places to live list.

Just a friendly appeal/suggestion: let's leave politics out of Head-Fi as much as possible. This could quickly degenerate into a discussion about the health insurance the "non-citizens" are getting in California.

I think when you are picking and choosing the best places to live, the politics of the place is paramount... unless you live in Eden, Nirvana, Narnia, or an ivory castle.

Now I feel guilty that I didn't put my home city, Portland, on the list. Human nature; the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
