Best city in the world to live...

What is the best city in the world to live and why?

I sure like San Diego, but it is really expensive. That rules it out for the best, but I can't imagine a more wonderful climate.

Of course it's Atlanta. We have the traffic oil companies can only dream of.

Yeah, San Diego is nice. I have been there a few times and really enjoyed it.

SF, Seattle and Hawaii will be the top of my list for US. I haven't been to Hawaii, however for SF and Seattle, Sydney (Australia) trumphed them both.
I have my bias since I went to college there and several of my bestfriends lived there. My plan will be to spend my retirement in Sydney. So far, Vancouver (canada) is the only city which I consider on par or better than Sydney.
Singapore is also not that bad. But, that's because I'm an Indonesian and Singapore is like an Indonesian city without its problem (crime, cleanliness, traffic, order)
US offers a lot of opportunity. However for quality of life, a place for family, children to grow up, other industrialized country have a better offer.

San Francisco.

also: New York and Tokyo.

I really haven't traveled too much though. And only lived there a year but one to cross off the list is Cleveland.

I disagree. I have lived here for 15 years and I make a middle class wage. I can only afford to live in a dangerous neighborhood in Manhattan and I hate it but I can not afford to move. Subways fares have gone up twice in two years with no improvement in service and will go up a third time. The beaches are polluted and now, in the summer, the Atlantic looks like a J-E-L-L-O. Yes, the jelly fish have taken over and it is impossible to swim. What about all the arrogant New Yorkers who believe the world revolves around them? Corporations make billions, literally, but they are not required to offer any kind of health insurance plan to their workers. The ultimate status symbol is a $6,000 purse from Hermes. Times Square used to be filled with prostitutes. Now it is filled with Mickey Mouse, McDonald's, and the Gap. I have been mugged twice, the second time 3 days ago. NYC is great for the rich. But isn't every city? I love NYC, don't get me wrong, but the best city in the "world" to live in? I disagree.

Vienna Switzerland, followed by Vancouver British Columbia.

^^^ Yes, Vancouver sounds nice to me. But haven't all the studies about this topic pointed to Denmark?

I read somewhere that the Swiss are the happiest people on the world I think. I forget how they calculated it but they did have a formula.

^^^ No, it is Denmark, not Switzerland you read about. But I wouldn't complain about Switzerland...
