It's a strange thing.. upgrading.
When you get your new gear, It's all fun an excitement, but the difference is at that time really small.
But after two months listening to your new setup, and then decide to listen to your previous setup... Oh Man, that moment is glorious!
That's the moment you hear all the differences that make the upgrade soooo worth the money!

Heh.

As far as I can tell, the people on this forum are rabid music lovers/appreciators. Maybe they don't all talk about it, but there has to be a reason for investing all this money in gear. I mean, why would a person spend thousands of money just to better perform an activity that does not provide them any pleasure.

I see the op's point. If you can't hear it, it doesn't exist, FOR YOU. That being said, my journey since joining Head-Fi has been very rewarding, and somewhat expensive (sorry about MY wallet!!!). The results have been great. I can hear the difference in the music for the $$$ spent, and I enjoy the music more than before the upgrades. I also switched from team senn to team grado, but that folks, is another story
