Houston Head-Fi Meet #1 on October 25 - Page 7

MAJOR update to the first post today...

I added the information about the awesome door prizes that we have confirmed! I am putting a few hours on the Grover cables at the present time - they look great and sound fantastic. Everyone knows how beautiful swt61's headphone stands are, and we will have one to give to a lucky attendee! And who doesn't need a quality power cable for that new gear you will buy right after the meet? These door prizes will be good reasons alone to come to this event.

But wait, there's more...

Check out the unbelievable list of gear that will be available at the meet! I couldn't believe this as I compiled the list. It took me several hours because I kept searching Head-Fi for review threads about various pieces. Outstanding!

And finally, the best part... the clubhouse has POWER! That's right, we will have airconditioning AND ice. Now every Ike-survivor knows just how valuable this is. Why, we would pay $15 for 8 hours of air conditioning WITHOUT all of the gear. So, if you haven't made your reservation already, peruse this gear list, whet your appetite, and PM me for the details.

Please don't forget we need some volunteers for snacks and clean-up. Don't be shy, go ahead and volunteer now so that you feel more obligated later. Snacks: hey, you know you have peanut butter and spam left over, right? Clean-up: no tree limbs or fences, just a little sweeping. It'll be a piece of cake after this week.

So jump on back to that first post and study that gear list... you know you can't resist hearing some of this stuff.

See you next month, Houston!

While I cannot attend this meet on the 25th, my friend Joel (s1rrah) will be bringing one of my headphones along with him for you guys to enjoy/ignore/hate/whatever .

It's an APS v3 recabled, Honduras Rosewood-woodied, MD2000.

Enjoy guys, and have a great time!

Personally, I am betting heavily on "enjoy". I know I'll be reaching over into Joel's pile to listen to them.

Thanks, Aura!

This is your official "one month to go" bump! Everything is on track for this meet. I am getting my playlist together, and trying hard not to buy an amp before I get to audition Joel's HP100 and Shelly's GS1. Or maybe I'll just keep my Yamaha and buy some different headphones instead. I'm sure to get some ideas about those at the meet also.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone (and their gear) on October 25!

I almost pulled the trigger on a new CD Player but I am also trying to make myself wait until after the meet. I want to get a new source to use with GS-1 for my bedroom setup (to replace my oppo + x-can).

Help me set up my new turntable!

I've finally decided on a plinth design, and have ordered the wood. I should have it finished in time.

I really want you guys to experience this custom table. It uses some very nice components, and should be a high end contender. None of it would have been remotely possible without the considerable help of Marc (luvdunhill), including, but not limited to the custom high end DIY motor controller and the DIY Nelson Pass Pearl phono stage he built me. As well as the Maxon motor and custom pod he helped me secure. Then there's all the advice on the platter, bearing, tonearm and accessories...

alright. At the moment, I'll bring:

KGSS
Blue Hawaii
Koss ESP-950
Stax SR-007mkI
Muse Model 9 CD/DVD player
Museatex Bitstream DAC

Hopefully I'll have another "amp" which is really a preamp I'm working on, which is setup for low impedance headphones. I also have a modded MPX3 SE SLAM and a few others things that might make it.

Hope there's room

Sounds amazing, I'm in (not that I actually know anything about turntables... )!

And, since Marc so graciously resurrected the BH, I will be there with all the rest of the gear in my sig - and mainly to retrieve my BH.

HD600 / 650 (with cables)
HE60
Azur 840c
Balanced Bijou
Balanced MillettMax with OPUS DAC

Maybe FrankenFones, as the DX-1000 drivers from JVC should be here this week.

Outside shot at a SOHAII, if boards get released on time.
