North Jersey 7/26/2008 meet impressions - Page 5

Just have to add additional thanks for Wavoman and MD - for putting the meet together.
Being able to directly compare so many phones really saved me some $$$.

Thanks to all who contributed. Great hang.
Only downside is that my stax appetite has been wet. (this is going to hurt a bit).

you guys rule.

as far as phones go ..... definately learned some things.

Being able to listen to the akg line in quick succession 240,271,340,400,500,501,701 was incredible.
I had previously listened to all before but just being able to roll from one to the next was awesome. It affirmed my previous opinions and removed the doubt that comes from too much time elapsing between owning different phones.
I am definately team AKG.

My ultrasone opinion was reenforced. - I'm not on team ultrasone.

Every set of RS-1's at the meet sounded better than the set I once owned. Might have to check that one out again.

Allesandro's are worth looking into after getting to hear a set of ms1's.

Fang's senn 580's sounded more natural and open than my 600's. Gotta figure that one out. And his new amp is on my must buy list.

Stax are in my future.

Everyone thinks I'm crazy for liking my W5000's open.

Everyone is right - I may be crazy but the W5000's sound great open anyway.

All that was missing from my "must hear list" were Edition 9's and Grado 1k's and denon 5000's. NEED TO GO TO ANOTHER MEET!

NYC NYC NYC NYC NYC NYC (starting the chant for the next NYC meet)

Thanks again to everyone involved!

Hmm. I don't recall seeing a pair of K271 at the meet. Must have been hidden somewhere.

We should set the date for next year incase of vacations, etc

Yeah, I was disappointed at not having any GS-1k's at the meet, but honestly, we had so much equipment there for a 20-person meet that I cannot possibly complain. SACD-Man in particular along with his father are to be commended for setting up such an insane rig!

Eh, I partially agree with setting it for next year, but this off-the-cuff thing worked pretty well, too.

If it was in my stash (blue Reebok bag), it was probably either the K280 parabolic or the K290 surround. The K290 surround has the super long cable, and the K280 parabolic is the one that sounds really dark, especially with the tubes I had in the DV332.
