24KT Gold CDs. Worth the extra co$t??

I was recently surfing fleabay and bumped into a bunch of 24kt gold CDs, many of which are commanding some serious coin.

I have a few gold edition CDs and have never really noticed much of a difference. This might be due to the defiantly mid-fi nature of my gear but I couldn't help but wonder: are these Gold CDs worth the extra cash outlay?

it's rarely the material of the cd that matters, but the mastering involved. Some are and some aren't worth the cost.

Well, if they happen to be say MFSL products, why not. Since the gold CDs are for collectors, they should be treated like ones.

I own a few, If you can get them at the right price I say they are worth it.

It's mainly down to the mastering like grawk says.

MFSL Vinyl or Gold CDs sound great.

Yeah Mofi discs are great, definintely worth it if you can get them during the production run, the OOP ones can run a bit high, so its not always justified.
