Have you considered getting this cable from Drew at moon-audio? He has off-the-shelf -- Blue Dragon balanced IC with NEUTRIK NC3-B XLRs: $155. I met Drew at Can Jam 08 and had him do a re-cable on my Ultrasones. Great work, great guy, always returns calls and emails, stands by his work, and supports Head Fi!

(For totally custom cable work I use Randy at brainsalad@brainsaladaudio. I believe HeadRoom recommends him, so that's something).

Thanks, I will check out the Blue Dragon.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Oyaide PA-02TX?:

OYAIDE ELEC,co,.ltd.

Someone recommended them over at the Cable Asylum.

Oyaide is very good; but they are generally few and far between so impressions are not very abundant. Also since they are relatively low in demand, resale value isn't great.

In addition to the above though, my biggest worry with Oyaide would be the fact that there are meant to be many fakes.

Thanks for the info. It's hard enough to choose a cable from the over-saturated wire market without having to also worry about fakes. Do you think I would be safe with Oyaide if I bought from http://www.kosmic.us/equip-cables-oy...connects.html?

Have you compared the Zu Gede you mentioned to the current Grover SC? If so, what were your impressions? Thanks again.

I compared the Zu Gede to the Grover S (white version, if that makes a difference). I prefered the Zu, and by a non-insignificant margin. Both were fairly neutral, but the Zu sounds more real, more fleshed out, more alive to these ears. They are also far more flexible - Grover's were quite stiff (not sure about the SC iteration) so made routing a bit of a challenge.

Good point about the cable flexibility regarding the Grovers. The SC's are relatively stiff as well. I can't imagine them being any better considering there is an extra layer of shielding.

wavoman - Excellent recommendation. Drew is a great guy, and I know that his taste in CD players and Amps is right in line with my own [bought my new source from him]... why not cables as well? His Black Dragon balanced cable has been on my short list for a while.
