How To Determine L / R on Etymotic?

When you are in the dark or trying to determine left from right quickly, how do you do so?

Has anyone added anything to them to help with this?

Use the backlight on your DAP. Or mobile. Or digital clock.

tons of headphones have little tiny dots on the headband or earpice so that you know its the left side. Both my HD580s and JVC marshmallows have these dots...i bet other companies do this too

It is easy. The L and R on the barrel are elevated and only on one side.
So, if you take them in your hand as if you want to insert them (flanges pointing inwards), this indication is on top if you have them the right way (left one in you left hand and the right one in your right hand). You can feel the letter with the nail of your thumb.
If you have them the wrong way around, the surface (on top) is flat.

That is what I thought Kees, the L is barely noticeable and the R is not at all noticeable with this method. They are pretty smooth.

The trick is that you don't have to recognise the R or the L. You only have to verify if the top is rough or flat. And I can easily do that with my thumb nail.

I put a tiny sliver of tape around the cable about an inch below the left IEM.

Good idea breakfastchef. Off topic, how do you like that WA6SE? My Setup would be like yours with a different DAC in the middle.

On my ER-4P, the right driver housing has a small raised bump on the top of the strain relief connector. That's how I tell which is which.

Wow! I never noticed that. It's just another ergonomics thing that bothers me about the Etys. I had an incredible faint "L" designation on one of the housings that I had to hold up in the proper lighting to even see. That's crap for such a premium IEM. What would it take to imprint a red R and blue L on the housing or strain relief?

I have the older red/blue ones, so it's easy!
