I feel a bit guilty for my involvement of deraling this thread..

So what better way to get things rolling again than with some pics of my varnished "highend" headphones!

Wow! Those looks soo much better than they started (not that they were bad then).

Those just looks extremely badass. Darker tone is soo much more fitting.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I used a mixture of wood stain and scratch cover. The scratch cover contains wax so you are building up the polish as you do it. I must have given them about 20 coats...

Cheers

Thanks.

The wood dye doesn't take very well to already varnished surfaces and takes about 16 hrs to dry, so only used a little of that just for the colour. The scratch cover has dye in aswell as wax and thats mostly what I used as it dry's quickly and you can keep adding coats and then buff at the end for a shine.

Here's my system currently, finally got some shelves, upgraded speakers.

Synthesis Matrix DAC, 6SN7 pre, McCurdy Input stage, Northern Electric output stage.  Speakers are Altec 802b drivers on a 32a horn, 15'' Jensen P15LL bass drivers.  Headphones are Sennheiser HD-650 and Dream Earz Customs, with a modded Woo Audio amplifier.

Thanks!  It's an Onkyo T-4055 tuner.  You can grab them all day on ebay, best tuner I've heard yet, very 3D and rich.

Screw it, moved in the recliner. So much better.

Listened to (today): BT, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Autechre, and The Doors (The Movie). Good day.

EDIT: Those speakers are gorgeous, btw, Colin.

I always get a little nervous leaving my 'stats like that, as dust and other particulates can cause not-so-good things to happen to the stators. I'm paranoid tho.
