Echo Indigo DJx and IOx (PCI Express)

Echo seems to have updated their Indigo series laptop sound cards as older Indigo cards don't fit most of the new laptops.

"The Indigo DJx features two independent stereo outputs - one for setting up your cue mix and the other for the house mix. Both cards support 24/196kHz playback and low-latency output.

The new products are expected to be available in the UK from April"

Are these officially released yet? Hopefully DJx is even better than DJ.

Finally. I absolutely LOVE the DJ. Makes for a silent headphone/output and very neutral and clear.

Definitely getting the Djx for the MBP when it comes out.

Looks very interesting, but I have two questions

1- is that what that weird slot on the side of my laptop is for?
(hey I am only a desktop person who happens to have a laptop)

2- but seriously, why is this better than USB which is like really universal?

1. Yep!

2. Leaves a USB port free, offers nice neutral sound for a decent price, low profile (at least the PCMCIA one is), versatile with its many outputs and virtual outputs, can act as an amp like sound source, boosting volume with a line out, no cables, transportable since it draws power from your computer. I mean these are reasons why this is a nice device. A USB DAC may have more capabilities but the echo is just a nice package for what it offers.

An Echo becomes part of your laptop, whereas a USB soundcard is this thing hanging and flapping around off your laptop. The original DJ also a nice headphone output - not a full amp, of course, but way better than an average headphone out.

Anybody try the Echo Indigo IO vs the Apogee Duet? I'm wondering whether the sound of the DAC is an improvement in the Apogee.

Has anyone tried the Indigo DJx on a Mac yet? The Beta drivers are out.

I have just tried IOX. Full stop. The screen is freezing permanently and the keyboard does not respond anymore. MacBook Pro has to be rebooted. I hope the driver will be fixed soon. Regards.
