XM5 Review

Thread Starter
Does anyone have any reviews of the XM5 from Practical Devices?
What would be comparable to the XM5 out there?

Looking for a good Headphone amp for my MP3 player.
I have a Senheisser HD 212 Pro...
Listening to Electronica, dance, progressive-type music.

Please provide feedback on the XM5 and present any alternatives, if need be.

Thanks.

I havent heard the XM5, but I understand the headstage lyrix is on the price range. I am an owner and i must tell you it is a great little thing!!!

Just a few minutes ago I realized that feeding it from the USB of the desktop PC i was having a little clearer sound, so I decided to try the wallwart from my cordless phone (which gives 9v, the range is 5-15v) and they are even better now.

Right now I am using it with my triple.fi 10 pro and it is amazing. There is simply no way I'd go back to listening to the headphone out.

Look for headphonia on ebay. Sometimes they go much cheaper than retail.

Since ASR did that review, we've replaced the DAC in the XM5 with the PCM2702E. I will have to sweet-talk ASR into doing another review with the new DAC. Details are here: here.
