What is so horrible about Skullcandy's anyway?

i wanted a pair before, but after reading so many "run them over with a car" like comments here i'm scared... is it just cause yer all "headphone snobs" (no offense intended) im definitely not with my 15 dollar sony buds, and no way can i afford bose or the more top shelf sein...whatchacallits (heimer? i just saw it spelled 30 seconds ago...)

i was looking at the lowriders...

...i just don't want a plain black hunk o plastic on my head when i can have ~flava~

That's not a bad thing . Skull Candies just don't sound good, and there are way better headphones for the same price. Look at some lower priced Koss products, they'll blow them away.

I have a set (bought them when I moved to Kansas to have something to listen to at work). They're the Hesh model, I think.

You know those cheezy little speakers that come in the box with new computers? Those speakers sounded better than those headphones. I only still have them around so if someone asks to borrow a set of headphones, I don't have to loan out my good ones.

I'd wear electrostats in public before I bought another pair of Skullcandy headphones.

For the price, you can get remarkably better HPs.

Skullcandies are cheap, dollar-store headphones that have been given a "fresh" (1991 style!) coat of paint and sold for twenty times the price their sound quality would warrant.

If you want inexpensive, I second the Koss suggestions. Or save up $70 (american) for some Grado SR60s. I think those are stylish enough to wear in public.

I bought a pair for my girlfriend's daughter (she wanted them because they looked cool) and they were horrible for their price. My Akg 26p were cheaper and much, much better!

Buy a pair of Koss KSC75 and you'll see how bad Bose and Skullcandy really are for the price.

They're really not that bad. They're not the best, but they're also not bad. The ones I use(Ink'd buds) can be found for around $9 on sale. They have decent sound and decent isolation. Not bad for $9. Not bad for a low-end IEM.

I haven't tried their cans, but they don't seem too bad. Considering the HESH and Lowriders are both under $50, you're getting a pair of low-end cans.

my ex-girlfriend bought one of their higher priced models, i tried it and was disgusted. I let her try my grados the other day and she frowned cause the sound quality of the grados blew it away (sr80). And, I dont really recommend bose. My whole family has tons of their products, and I'm trying to currently sell of my triports (around ears). I honestly think something even like a hd 201 would blow away skull candies, but I say you save up for something good like grados or whatever brand floats your boat

Skullcandy's are definitely not marketed towards the type of people that would come to this forum. I've heard a couple of their IEMs and one of their full size headphones, and I wouldn't say Skullcandy's sound as bad as some of the members here make them out to be (I'd say they're better than the earbuds some mp3 players come with), but their is definitely much better value for the money out there, even at $9.

So long as we're jumping on this train again, I'll bash another manufacturer. I heard the B&O earbuds with those funny ear clips the other day. They are possibly worse than iBuds, yet cost... How much? Let me check, I have no idea what they are even called.

They are from the Apple store so it does make sense. And $199.

At least with the SkullCandys you're getting under $50 headphones for under $50.

I checked that link and noticed that they are standard earbuds with ear hooks. They don't even isolate. I've seen nicer isolating earhook headphones for 1/3 that price.

cx420ns, first "mistake" you made is finding head-fi. The second mistake you're about to make is sticking around here.

Buy a Koss KSC75, then RUN (not walk) as far away as you can from this evil evil place.... If you choose to ignore my advice, then:
