Shure SE110 good upgrade from EP630?

My portable earplugs (EP630) are kaput as of yesterday. For under 100$ what is recommended? Are the SE110 an upgrade? Source will be my IPod Touch 16 GB. I may amp them when at home.

Cannot spend more than 100$

Any more suggestions?

UM1, Superfi 3, RE2...

what are you looking for in your iem?

You can even score a RE1 from the FS forum for close to $100, but it needs an amp to shine.

You can pick up an ER6i for under $80 from amazon. It doesnt have huge bass presence, but it has the best details and isolation in the price range.

Do you need IEM's? Check out the Yuin pk2's. They're $80 and sound better then most of the cheaper IEM's as long as your not in a noisy environment.

Denon C551 will be great for Ipod Touch. I have it myself and using it primarily with my Ipod Touch 8gb, quite a nice combo there.

SE110 are VERY fragile - I've had Shure replace 'em 3 times now!

I'd actually recommend the Sennheiser CX500 if you can find a legitimate version on eBay (you need to check VERY closely on eBay for a legitimate version of this model, though).

The best thing about the CX500 is its very high efficiency--you don't need to crank the volume level way up on your MP3 player to get decent sound quality. It does roll the treble off a bit, but I fixed that by applying "Treble Booster" equalization on my 3G iPod nano.

I see somebody has also suggested these. How good are they compared to the EP630? Remember I don't want the best possible sound, only a noticeable upgrade from the EP630. And the price - the less the better. 100$ max.

ER6i is good, but Head-Direct RE2 is better in sound quality for $99. The only downside in comparison is RE2 doesn't isolate as well as ER6i. You'll only get about the same isolation from RE2 as your EP-630. In any case, both will be very noticeable upgrade from EP-630.
