AKG K702 on Cnet

Just thought I'd share this since there's been a lot of talk about the AKG K702.
AKG's high-end headphones get the blues | Crave, the gadget blog - CNET
I think the blue looks quite nice and there seems to be a detachable cable now.

Now only waiting for the reviews and see if the sound sig has remained the same (which I suspect) or that it changed for the better (which I hope) or worst.

They look amazing imo! Whats the price?

Asthetics are all well and good. I'm all for having choices, but the excuse CNet uses for the color change is appliciable only in the pro arena - not in the audiophile world where the care for equipment is almost a religion. What color my headphones are is totally irrelavent given that I can't see them when I'm wearing them, so I wouldn't care if they were pink with purple polka-dots as long as they sound good and fit comfortably.

The only upgrade the K702s have over the K701s that affects audiophiles is the detachable cable. If you don't already have a pair of K701s, then I can see waiting for th K702s. Otherwise, why waste money that could be put to far better use?

Just my (adjusted for inflation) $2.

Oh, and as far as I know the price will be the same as the K701s - sonic quality too. Well, with the stock cable anyway. What a different cable will do to the sound is anyones guess.

Is it just a new color? The comments almost make it sound like "in the studio, these things get beaten up, and white really shows it, so we made some blue ones". Am I misreading?

why would he write "more than 350$" instead of just listing the retail price?

If they sound the same as the K701's my interest is lost haha

There might be some sonic differences. I found this on the AKG site: "The sound clarity is enhanced with the patented Varimotion 2-layer diaphragm, which produces clear highs and accurate bass response."

Ohh <3
Looks a lot better than my 701's :3

Any reviews out yet?
I'm betting while SQ are completely the same, AKG will try to make people who already own k701 buy K702 with a lot of "enhanced clarities" and blah-blah-blah.

Eh. The blue color is nice looking, but I'll stick with the K-701 until the drivers are updated.
ANYTHING is better than iPod white. I cannot WAIT for that color trend to end completely...
There's no change in driver? That's kind of disappointing.

Ah, I believe that that is the same description used by AKG for the K701s
