Creative EP-630

Who has a pair of these? How do they compare to the JVC marshmallows? I think I'm going to get them with the Zune 80, but I've heard they have a flat sound, and so does the Zune 80, so I don't want that. I would like an earphone that gives it a rich and bassy sound.

where did you read EP 630 has a flat sound ?? IMO they are muddy and full of bass and only bass.

The EP 630 are a realy nice pair of headphones imo. I am just listening to them atm (not at home). I´ve not burned them in and have to say they have some good bass going on here, but the marshmellows going to get you a better sound overall if modded correctly.

If you know the cx300 from Sennheiser you can compare them to each other - they´re nearly the same imo ...

I have a pair. I use them with Cowon D2. I think they're a great set of IEMs for the price. For the price. Which is very low. If that's where your budget is at, then that's it. I've not found them great with bass, but this could at least in part be that my primary source has rolloff problems with IEMs.

I've never heard the marshmallows, so I can't compare, but can I at suggest going a little higher on the food chain?

e.g. $60 D-Jays?

I could get the djays. Are they going to give me the sound I'm looking for? And do they have other colors besides these fruity bright colors?

you should get the sennheiser CX300, they sound better than EP 630, atleast to my ears.

djays > cx 300
My opinion. And as far as i know the divers are different or configured different on ep630/cx300 so it makes a different

Fruity colors might be the reason they're $60.

They should give you overall better sound than the EP630s. All known reviews point in this direction. Jays are not so popular here, however. Unless it's the q-jays, which are more at $200+. So there is not so much info on the D-Jays here, but if you search I'm sure you will find something. Also they are a bit dated. There is more info on these and other IEMS in one place at Headroom

Not having heard the Jays, it's hard to say, but I'll tell you that I am just about to buy a pair (orange or green being least fruity to me) to replace my EP630s.

I'd offer to send you my used (erm, "burned-in") EP630s, but they're really not that bad.

For $60s you can get Denon AH-C551 from Amazon. I haven't heard or tried D-Jays, but from what i've seen in the forum, it doesn't really shine in bass department whereas C551 is probably the best under $100 bass sounded canal phone.

Last time I checked on those c551's on amazon they were like $100.

Oops, they are not $68 anymore, but they are $66.15 now w00t :P

Nope. C551 is easy to drive, even when pairing it with Ipod Touch i only use 1/2 to 3/4 of the volume. I don't think using an amp for C551 is worth the hassle, it probably will make them sound better, but not by much imo.
