Okay, another thing.
I was in an AOL messenger chat with Covenant on Friday (who has APS v3 Edition 9 on the way and is looking for an amp for them. He wanted me to try some new things with the Edition 9 on my "WA6 Maxed with PDPS" which should be close to the SE. He had me connect the WA6 directly to the Apogee XLR out with some silver plated copper interconnects made by highflyin9 and a pair of Neutrik XLR>RCA plugs. Then he sent me a FLAC of Infected Mushroom "Dancing with the Kadafi" to try with it. With the NOS Sylvania 5U4G, and RCA 6DE7 it was pretty magical, and sounded great, and the slightly recessed treble was much better.
I just can't leave the WA6 connected to the XLR out all the time because I use that for my balanced Single Power, and my mini-RCA is too short to connect the WA6 directly to the 1/8" out. That would often leave the WA6 connected to the CD5001 player, but all my good interconnects were used already, leaving only the cheap BJC interconnects.
I took the HEV70 out of the loop to free up a nice interconnect and as a lark I thought of plugging the WA6 into the Single Power's RCA inputs and LO AND BEHOLD THE RCA jacks act as outputs when the XLR are the inputs! So I am feeding the Single Power balanced via XLR with XLR anti-cables IC's, and plugging the WA6 directly into the back of the Single Power with anti-cables IC's. Then I am running the 1/8" out of Apogee into the Woo GES.
This all sounds great, and my WA6 maxed with PDPS treble problem with Edition 9 is gone (everything else was fine before).
