Ah, if I'd known Edwood was standing nearby... I had to cut out a bit early (Tyll Hertsens was wrapping up his talk on Class D) to make an appt a dozen or so miles further north, but I did manage to make the round and snap some pix of gear and happy people. No love like gadget love! - And it was great: not the free food so much, but the line-up: local champions, Ultimate Ears. Luxman praised with an Irish accent and a bow-tie. Dan Wright, perhaps modestly bowing out of modding, but still presenting a lovely tubed Transporter. There was a lady listening to a pristine-looking pair of K1000 fed from a laptop to a Pico to a Millet and I ran out of patience waiting in line behind her... Headroom had its audiophile desktop set-up there, delectable! One of those speaker stands made the way around the room, a sturdy little thing: and I loved those Harbeth speakers (had to hide the info leaflet from the spouse)...

I stuck my head in for a couple of hours as well.

The people from the LAOC were extremely nice - I plan/hope to attend some other meets and maybe join.

I didn't listen to any gear (my wallet can't handle any more purchases right now) but I did admire a nicely recabled pair of AD2000s and someone had a really sexy looking portable amp attached to a Mac. My wife and I both admired that unit - what was it .

Thank you to everyone who showed up and who brought gear - what fun.

That was my Apogee Duet; I borrowed the APS V3 recabled AD2000 and wow, I think I may be selling my K701 soon. The recabled AD2000 was really great.

A few pics, however belated, from this year's rockin' LA/OC meet!

Tyll dishes on all things amplification:

Dan Wright of Modwright gives the rundown of his latest creations:

Ultimate Ears' lead engineer answers questions:

The masses congregate and listen:

Raffle prizes waiting to be plundered:

Too bad this Modwright Transporter wasn't one of them:

Luxman's gleaming lineup:

But Frank Cooter stole the show, again, with another completely crazy custom creation:

And the blue glow is back!

Frank designed this amp specifically to drive his JVC-Victor DX1000:

The DX1000 drew some interesting reactions:

Edwood's K1000 was the subject of analysis and discussion as well:

Ultimate Ears' table was among the busiest of the room:

Tyll and his legendary energy kept 'em busy:

While his big box o' headphones and amps kept 'em listening:

Plundered is right. That was definitely NOT how a raffle should be done. First come first served, take your pick is not a good idea. Really kills the excitement towards the end. You should really save the best for last.

Anyways, awesome, pics, again.
