Aphrodite cu 29

Robert has a site where he's doing recabling and other things.

I had a pair of headphones that I needed recabled with a specific cable that wasn't one of his (long story, it's for a gift, color was important).

Anywho, he still did the job, did it for a very reasonable fee and even did door-to-door service - way above and beyond. Also completely took them apart (they were vintage headphones) and thoroughly cleaned them.

The work was really first-rate - very impressive.

He also gave me some CD scratch powder stuff that was also supposed to make CDs sound better. I'm not a big believer in stuff like this - definitely not inclined to believe it... but it definitely cleaned up some little scratches and.. i think it is actually improving their sound. I have no real way of knowing if this is in fact the case, maybe it's totally psycho-suggestive but it seems to be improving them, albeit slightly, in a whole host of ways (better definition, reduced sibilance, etc.) I don't know if there's a scientific reason for this (anti-static?) but I think I'm hearing an improvement (I'm using disc I know really well - I'll have to find two identical disks and treat one an A-B). In any case, it's cleaned them up physically.

But back to the task at hand, the re-cabling, it was absolutely first-rate and the transaction was spot-on and frankly ideal.

Just thought I'd share my recent experience with a custom recabling job done by Rob at Aphrodite Cu29 (http://www.aphroditecu29.com)
If there is one thing that I could say in all honestly is one of the best choices this year, it would be having a pair of D2000s recabled by Rob at Aphrodite Cu29.
You could really see and hear the passion and attention to detail that Rob put into these headphones. The recabled D2000s, both aesthetically and sonically, are in a whole new class.
Among the most noticeable differences between the stock D2000s and the Maximus 195L recabled D2000s is a signficant improvement in soundstage and dynamics. I almost forgot that I was listening to a D2000; everything was there, lows, mids, highs, and in perfect balance. It even smoothed out the sometimes harsh highs present in stock D2000s.
In many respects, these headphones surpass the D5000s due to the higher quality Cardas cable and (reversible) structural mods to the cups and diaphram done by Rob, and is actually much cheaper than buying a pair of D5000s.
On a more personal note, Rob is a great guy to deal with, and extremely helpful. I can attest that Rob's work will bring your current stock headphones to new level
