SA6, Klipsch Image X5, or FreQ??

Hey folks,
I've recently discovered IEMs, started with Vibes, then X3is and now I'm off for something better . The headfi virus if you will ^^ I preselected 3 different IEMs: The Sleek Audio SA6,
Klipsch X5 (the new one...)
and the FreQ "Super FreQ".
They're all about 250$. So, what'd you buy if you had the choice? How do you like the different earbuds in regards to sound and overall quality?

Ah yes: I mostly listen to rock tunes, but like to have lots of details. Bass doesn't have to be exxagerated. I hate that to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I love bass, but it shouldn't be bloated. Oh, and I'm a musician, so I'm pretty sensitive :d hehe ^^

Thanks for the answers

Hi there and welcome to Head-fi!!

I am probably newer to the IEM world than you, to be honest, but I have and own the SA6 and can give them my full endorsement as a top quality headphone! Small, very comfortable and non-fatiqueing, customisable bass and treble system (the VQ system) so the sound signature is not restricted to one set signature, absolutely fantastic customer service from Sleek (no joke! They are very customer focused and dedicated!), replaceable cables....couldn't be happier with them, really!
Obviously, my comparative experience is practically none so others may be able to give you a better idea and backdrop, sound quality and signature wise (though, dont forget, this business is all very subjective!) than I can. I can't, therefore, first hand, vouch for the images nor the freq's but I do know the original imagex10 were reportedly quite microphonic, due to the non-over the ear style. Might wana look into that. I know it would probably bother me if the hps I had were heavily microphonic.
Oh, being from the UK its hard for me to do this, but, depending ere your from, you may wana order as many models you're interested in as you can, try em out and keep which you like the most, returning the others. That said, hope this helps and good luck with your search and whatever you go for!!

And don't forget the possibility of the Sleeks going wireless, which is on the drawing board and not that far off from what I hear on the grapevine. I for one would love to use these little buggers without being tethered to a wire, if cost-wise it's within reason (and the antenna on for DAPs isn't too cumbersome).

I have never tried the Klipsch Images or Freqs, the latter since I don't want to invest in custom phones, and the former since I already have the SA6s. So my POV is certainly limited when comparing to those two brands/models. But with the Shure olives, I find the SA6s outstanding, much like Bloodsugar, and endorse them for all the reasons listed. I have owned the Ety ER4Ps, which are the best I've had until the Atrio M5s (I preferred them over the Etys) and now the Sleeks.

Sorry! When I read your list I didn't compute freQ's properly, and bypassed the fact they're custom fits! Again, don't know much about them as havn't really loked into customs but, obviously, comfort and fit wise they should be perfect. As for they're sound quality and sonic character you may want to check out the appreciation thread for these. It seems to be a well populated and busy thread so you should be able to garner plenty of information and opinions etc from there.
