This is something strange, because the differences are not that big at all.

Elluzion, thanks!

Being confused by the Beagle's and fatman711's comments tested them for long time today with holes exposed and with holes covered with acoustic paper (same density as origianl Grado's). Stock version(with holes covered) are definitely lacks in the bass department and somewhat peaky in the highs. Exposing the holes solves both problems for SOME degree. The bass is improved, but it's still far from such bassy cans as Akg k81dj, among others.
Don't get it wrong, poking the holes in acoustic screen it's not like going from closed enclosure to open. The screen itself is acoustically transparent so poking the holes in there is a child's play, it's not going to provide substantial changes to sq. But, it makes them a little more enjoyable for me.
Thanks for all opinions though.

Nice job.

Nice mod dude, simple but effective, the grill work looks neat, what kind of grill did you use?

I think I'd wait a few months before mod'ing a set of headphones, I can't afford experiment with expensive cans, I'd do it only cosmetically, maybe not brave enough

Chorejas, i've found this grill in my closet, they're from old stereo's speakers. Driver protectors.

Superbowls. This is ultra-simple: i just took the rings of foam(which are from ripped apart pair of dt 770 pads, but any pads of similar size will do the trick) and pull it over standard bowls, which gives the nice ultra comfortable circumaural fit.

What's the sound like with those super bowls?

It depends on position of the ear and the driver. If the driver are too far from ear it sounds bassless and dull. With proper position with your ear just a little further than standard position with bowls it sounds maybe a little more airy. It possible to move the foam ring and choose the distance you want.
But the most improved thing is comfort. Nothing presses against ears...sweet.

Very nice mods! I'm tempted....

What's next up? Liberators out of laminated kitchen wipe rolls?
