With extensive reviews and streaming samples this one is hard to beat for eclectic listening. Good place to turn on to great music nobody told you about.

they are probably one of the cheapest places ever when you consider there's no tax or shipping. only problem is, almost every item is backordered, even if it says on the web site it isn't. i think 9/10 cds i buy there turn out to be backordered even when the web site says "in stock." but that's okay.... cause they don't charge your credit card until the CD is mailed. so, i usually put in the order then forget about it, until 1/2 month later the CD shows up like a birthday surprise.

in short, it's the cheapest, but slowest.

i used to order from:

http://cheap-cds.com/surf/home

but they have REALLY bad consumer support and had various other problems.... and after the shipping price, deepdiscountcd is usually cheaper.

deepdiscountcd.com has very limited selection however,
I looked up Beethoven and got only 21 albums.

None for Bruch (except Max Bruch) and 27 for Brahms.

OTOH they break pop out into many categories.

Saw someone else mentioned Spun.com, which I've bought from many times. In terms of music selection I guess it's standard, nothing special there. But what I personally like about the site so much more than a ton of others (including Amazon.com!) is:

1) You can sell CDs to them. Their trade-in program rocks. If you only sell, of course you need to provide your own box and pay shipping, but if you buy 3 or more items in an order, they'll send you the box, and a pre-paid label! And did I mention you can sell your unwanted CDs? They give a fair credit, based on their inventory of the item...the higher the demand is, the more they'll give you credit for (timing becomes a science).

2) Very professional. They never use those USPS media mail packages that CD cases are liable to break in - always a mint corrugated box with bubble wrap to protect the contents, very well sealed, they do have a guarantee and as a prolific buyer, I can personally attest to it. CDs are ALWAYS in excellent condition, you wouldn't know they're used.

Shipping isn't free (but it is FAST - with their UPS Ground it's usually 3 or 4 days from their warehouse in Chicago to Denver/Boulder, where I live) and they never have special offers, which kinda sucks, but their trade-in program and professionalism are always a pleasure to deal with. Sorry this post was long, but I really like Spun.com...

Due to the brilliance at some of the major record labels many of the classical recordings that we read about in various publications are not imported into the US. For collectors seeking those hard to find UK releases try:

They ship to the US, no problem.

UK board members, I recommend www.juno.co.uk for dance/electronica. They mostly sell vinyl, but a few times I've also been able to pick up some pre-release CD singles a couple of months before they hit the shelves.

That is odd. I order from them quite a bit and have always been really happy with their service. I guess it makes a point that all my orders have been correct plus I live only one state away from them so I get most stuff 1-2 days.

www.animenation.com

Sells legitimate game music / anime music / merchandise, ships within the US so it ends up being quite a bit cheaper than cdjapan.

Does anyone know of a good source for used SACD/DVD-A's?

I have been doing a lot of purchases on Amazon's marketplace, but I'm getting tired of paying shipping for each disc I buy since they all come from different people.. so I'd like to find a good site where I only have to pay shipping once

Any ideas?

Here is another. No experience with them, but the prices of their heavily discounted "great deals" look attractive.

German shop/label. Carry good stocks of Americana/alt country/blues/folk..better than most American stores with many european only releases. You can search the site in english.
Shipping costs to me were cheaper than from the USA

www.isotank.com

It's the webfront of a brick-and-mortar outfit in Philly... good selection of metal/industrial/eletronic/gothic/whatever else fits with those.
An excellent place, IMNSHO, if you're into that kind of music... they've got stuff that Amazon can't find, and prices are pretty reasonable, too. Plus they throw in cool stuff, like magazines and demo discs, too.
I've ordered once from them... it took awhile to ship the order (not sure if it's because they're slow, or if it's because I ordered something that even Amazon can't get), but they sent it first class USPS and it arrived two or three days after it was sent out.
