Hi, My pair of Sound Magic PL30 IEM's have arrived today but I still have not had a chance to listen to them yet. There is a two position switch on each driver case for normal and extended bass setting, factory default is normal.

comes in nice presentation box with allot of different ear tips in white, grey and black, pouch and a clip. ClieOS, will audition them shortly and give my view on my blog using your style of review used for IEM's here. Will let you know my feelings on them.

Wow! I just took the PL30's for a spin, the initial response is they are very good value. The factory bass setting for the bass is not to my liking, but once switched to the 2nd setting the bass extension all came out. The bass is very very tight and very well controlled, no muddiness at all. Midrange and highs are very crisp with good resolution.

Rendering of precussion instruments is excellent. Details are delicate and well taken care of. Nice balance of lows, mids and highs that suit my taste. More will follow after I have time to burn them in. I am going to burn them in overnight and listen to them more over the next two days. Not bad at all. Isolation is quite good also, but I wish they would use similar tips like those used on the Koss spark plugs which would be even better!

I noticed some artifacts from some recordings that I ripped and burned from other sources but these were not that apparent with other earphones which indicates that the PL30's are quite high resolution.

Stevesebastianb are you talking about the 20$ PL-30's or the one from E-Bay?

You're in HK, they probably speak Cantonese..a bit of feedback won't be bad for them! In the meanwhile, do I see a new PL-30 mod here?

I'd just like to say, stay away from the CrossRoads MylarOne X3, they trick you at first with its great sound, later on the brittle headphone cord that you forgot about, ends up not outputting sound from one ear.
Any earphone review cannot be trusted, you need a durable phone and a review will only test it over the work of one day.

It's been well reported here that the Crossroads Mylar's are brittle so.....yes, I would trust earphone reviews here but I always that them with a grain of salt.

I do own every single pair of IEM in my review and use them as regularly as I can (X3 should have over at least >150hrs on it by now, thou I don't keep count), so this is definitely not 'test it over the work of one day'. Despite the fact of the build quality issue (which is mentioned on the review), my X3 is still function well. As I said before, it need good care to last (and for the record, X3 has been discontinued for almost a year now so you can't really get a new one anymore).
