Actually, for the same volume setting on my iriver clix2, SA6 sounds louder than Atrio M5.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Etymotic Research ER6i Isolator Earphones (White)
Sennheiser CX300-S Earbuds (Silver)
Creative Headphones EP-630

Quick report from iRiver E10 and Sony MDR-EX700. 300 hours of heavy burn-in is a must, as my friend says. Results:
- great, life-like soundstage
- very good instrument portraying
- meaty, punchy, physiological bass. I guess most armatures fall short here.
- terrific midrange - rich, lush, complex
- smooth "canalphoney" trebles, could be more sparkly

I guess OP has got issues with these canalphones using the clix2. It's a "digital" sounding player, though very good overall. I owned it for a couple of weeks but sold it due to just mp3 and wma correctly played back. The ogg sucks on this player which is not the case with the E10. So, Q10 @ Lancer SSE3 is like lossless, not the case with any mp3 or wma. I ordered the EX700's today as they probably sound better as my favorite 'phones for this player till today - HD25-1.

One of the best threads I've read regarding the subject.

Just a quick comment. I think if you were side by side compare the SE530 and the Triple Fis for a long period of time with many different kinds of music, it would be come very apparent that in terms of sound quality alone there is no clear winner. I happen to prefer the SE530 these days. I do own both and in fact I own the UE10 customs and as of right now, I prefer the Shure SE530 sound quality, which is something I NEVER thought I would feel.

About the SE530 sound signature. There are definite compromises you make when listening to the SE530 and the Triple Fis give off the impression due their sparkle that there is less compromise. What I've found is that for a great organic experience the midrange of the Shures is the most natural of any IEM, even moreso than the UE10 pro. Sometimes I wish there'd be more treble included, but other times I feel its near perfect sound representation.
I've been talking headphones with you for years. Now I can help you with your purchase:) Sales Specialist & Headphone Guru @ Headphones.com

I have put about 200~250hrs on my EX700 now, and observe no obvious change in sound signature roughly after 150hrs. Unless there is some magic about the number 300, I doubt it will suddenly decide to reduce 10dB over the 6~8kHz region. Even if it does, it will probably only going to move up one ladder and beat the SA6 in SQ, but not likely the amped RE1.

Also, I do not use my clix2 for reviewing purpose. Clix2 is my main player, but the whole review is conducted using Sony D-EJ1000's line-out -> Practical Device XM3 (AD8620) -> IEM. Once I received my pre-order 3Move, I will likely use it to replace XM3, if it prove to be much better sounding.

I agree that for SQ alone, TF10 and SE530 is very close and difficult to judge. However, the main factor that I rank TF10 higher than SE530 is because my own reaction to which when I use both in separate occasion.

Sometime when the music is right, TF10 can sound amazingly good in my ears and makes me feel like submerging in the music itself. On most other time, TF10 still sounds very good. Even if the music is not that suitable for TF10, it will still sound good enough. On the other hand, SE530 sounds very good with almost all kind of music, but never it once allows me to get the same feeling I have with TF10 - the amazing moment when the whole world is filled with music. That is the reason I described SE530 as 'conservative' in my review, for its inability to deliver the very best of music experience to me. Of course, YMMV.

I hope this make sense to why TF10 is ranked higher.

Get rid of the AD8620, it's an agressive and harsh, treble-oriented op-amp with narrowed soundstage. With analog sounding sources the EX700's are very good. The SE530's didn't impress me when I tried them - lack of treble, narrow soundstage, very nice timbre and analytical bass (with comply foams).

Actually, AD8620 is the best pairing opamp with the XM3, for what I know. I have even compare my AD8620 XM3 with Pico. While Pico does sound better, it didn't impress me in comparison of the price/performance ratio of my XM3. As least to my ear, my XM3 is well balanced, though it is not the best. Of course, my use of EX700 doesn't limited to the review rig. I have try them on my PC (via DAC+AMP), different amps, DAPs, as well as the headphone-out of the D-EJ1000, and I don't think my opinion will change based on those experience.

I like this thread very much, so I'm just insisting on finding and reporting synergistic combos DAP+IEMs or DAP+amp/DAC+IEMs as there might be lots of confusion between "great" and "terrible" in both directions, when the IEMs are considered alone.

I understand. Synergy is indeed a complex issue on any kind of review. In this point of time, I think playing with various amps + source to find the best synergy for each IEM is probably out of my lead, thus I will stick to standard I familiar the most. If you are interest in IEM synergy with amp, Larry (HeadphoneAddict) has a rather interest thread about this issue.

Nice work.
Anyway I do not the tf10 has the best SQ =(

I've had the the EX700s burning in for quite some time now. The sibilance is smoothed out a lot more now but it is still noticeable. Let me give them another 200 hours or so and see if the sibilance will totally smooth itself out. For the price, these rank very very very high as they are remarkably balanced and do not need a amp at all to shine (but it doesn't hurt to amp them, though you would have less headroom with the volume on a amp since these are very very efficient phones).

If i do buy the RP-HJE900 i wouldn't mind sending them your way for audition because i find myself unqualified for a review. Im making a huge leap in gear and all the stuff i have has been low-fi to mid-fi at best although i did own a parir of im716.

Just make sure they make it back to me :P

There was a local store who imports SHE9850 from Philips, but after the first batch they decided it doesn't worth the price (they are audiophile store and don't want their customer complaint for overpriced product) and stop selling it. It is not likely to find another store to carry them. As of Panasonic, it have to wait for the local Panny office to decide...
