my yamaha seems to have no issues driving full bottom LF on these technics, so i'm not worrying about that

now the one thing thats bugging me, why does EVERY LOUDSPEAKER i go to audition always get flagged as Discontinued, with no new models being declared (except in the case of Klipsch) is this just some marketing crap, or what, i mean seriously, what gives

I really would try to hear the NHT Classic 3, I have owned many and I mean many speakers, alot of them NHT. I really like their philosphy and sound. Great for the money.

There are thousands of speakers out there, all have their own style. It takes time to pick them out. So take your time.

Also a speaker either sounds right to you or it doesn't. Have fun.

yeah, finding this stuff locally is a pain, i know we have local dealers for Mirage, Klipsch, Bowers & Wilkins, Polk, Definitive Technology, and MartinLogan, of those, Mirage is sounding the best (except for the Bowers 800 series, lol, but thats a whole nother world)

Mirage is a decent company. I like their omnipolar satellites with a sub.

Another Klipsch Forte II owner here, with Klipsch Quartets as rears, same drives, smaller woofers, 10" vs 12" on the Quartets, this setup is mind bogglingly good sounding, using one those Panasonic SA-XR57 digital amplifiers and sounds oh so very good, everything sounds real, drums sound real, like in your room real, i'm in the process of getting a special SET-Tube amp be built for them, from what i've heard a Legendary combination, their quite untouchable in their price range, i went to a hi fi shop yesterday, and left un-impressed with all their offerings regardless of cost.

if you like the Mirage sound, i STRONGLY recommend you give the Ohm MicroWalsh Tall a listen. they are direct order, but Ohm offers a 3 or 4 month money-back trial. these were my second choice, after the Regas.

You have a small room so nearfield or monitors are a must. Take a look at some dynaudios, they are great. However, the better the speaker, the more likely the weaker links in your chain will be accentuated, like your receiver and/or source. What are they exactly? I think for your level, the Epos are also a great bargain and a good fit. Audio advisor sells them at a good price. Where do you live and are there some other stores around you that you could visit?

I didn't read through the whole thread, so I apologize if it was mentioned. But I'd recommend a diagonal placement for whatever speakers you get for an 11' by 11' room. I have the Von Schweikert VR4jrs but would not recommend them for such a small space.
