Hey this is a prefect thread. I am just looking at systems to put into my car.
I have a 94 Intrepid, ya it sucks its a boat but its a car. I dont want to spend much on the system just something that sounds decent and has a cd player (all i got is tape now).

Iv been looking a pioneer gear since where i work i can get a discount on it, and pioneer is the most reliable electronics on the market.
Tell me what you think of this set up

REAR:
Pioneer USA - Premier
FRONT DOOR:
Pioneer USA - Premier
FRONT BY WINDSHEILD: (no other choice really)
Pioneer USA - Custom Fit Speakers
DECK:
Pioneer USA - Pioneer

I decided on premier speakers because there about the same price as the reg pioneer. Dont care for a sub more work more money dont care.

Now i was looking at a front set that had a 5 1\4 for the doors then seperate tweeter. Could i hook this up, have the speaker in the door like usual but instead of putting the 3.5s up at the windsheild but hte tweeter. This brings in another problem of where to put the crossover also. Would it really be worth it?

Now one more question
How hard will this be to install. I dont think it will be to difficult only taking apart the dash. I got a diagram telling me the wires in the wire harness. Speakers are no problem i wouldnt think, but the deck is what scares me. Ill be going from a 1.5DIN to a 1 DIN so ill need a cover plate (Does it just rack mount like a server would kinda and its just a cover, or does the 1.5 - 1 adaptor hold it somehow)

Any help would be apreciated thanks

The perfect car audio system is a screaming Ferrari engine.

Anyway, I'm also looking to put a simple system into my newly acquired echo/yaris. I was looking for something with very basic with aux in (Though proper iPod connectivity would be better), and don't plan on doing anymore than replacing the 2 front door speakers. I'm leaning towards a kit from pioneer at the moment. Any suggestions?

I had a:

Deck: alpine CDA-9855 (tuned by my friend)

Component speakers front: JL Evolution ZR 6.5

Component back speakers:  Focal K2 

Woofer:  13.5 JL w7 I don't remember the box specs because a friend did the box for me.

Amps:  Alpine PDX 150.4 (for speakers) and JL 1000/1 (woofer)

4 gage wiring, yellow top battery, JL fuse and... I think thats about it...I had to sell the system about 3 years back because my xwife was running me dry...

Other than that I loved this system.  I could set off car alarms and my friends could hear me coming from far...lol.
