Too much coincidence to be true... - Page 10

Seems like the voices in his head don't like talking directly to each other.

I guess I'm just naive or extremely lucky. I've never had even the slightest problem with the FS forums, both buying and selling. Is this really that big of a problem?

Also, is it really so terrible to buy and sell stuff in rapid succession? One of the things I love so much about Head-fi and the FS forums in particular is that it gives me the chance to try new stuff. Buy it, try it, don't like it, sell it; what's wrong with that?

Double accounts, lying, cheating, stealing, etc are of course all bad things but simply buying and selling stuff shouldn't be a problem.

Again, I don't know if its naivety or just luck, but I'd be really shocked if this is such a wide spread issue. I hope Head-fi isn't in a "downward spiral" because I sure love getting up every morning and scanning the latest posts, often in the FS forums. I don't "need" anything, but has that stopped any of us before?

Hahahahahaha...well, my dad told me one time how one of his students (he's a middle school teacher), she woke up one morning to find out that her lawn was stolen. Yes, the thieves just rolled it up and took it away.

I do however see your point. My first transaction was somewhat nerve wracking knowing I should trust somebody don't know. There has to be a limit but I don't know what that number should be.
...
Just wondering.. did you put up a WTB or did Punnisher put up a FS? I believe it is against forum policy to sell DIY on the FS threads without becoming a member of the trade.

Despite upping required post counts to post in the FS forums, you still cannot stop buyers with less than 50 posts from PM'ing sellers. You can't prevent them from entering the FS forums anyway so those decent people wouldn't be left in the dust. Might be harder for you to sell your stuff, but if everyone goes through the same procedure, who has any right to complain? Upping the post counts for possible sellers would be a great way of weeding out people who try to scam by selling things they do not have, or flipping items for profit, or scammers. The number of posts does not measure honesty, but gives buyers more peace of mind to continue on with a transaction, and develop the sense of community in head-fi.

It's truly amazing how stupid someone can be.
Good...now the POS will have to peddle his wares on Ebay. Good riddance!

The issue that most people take offense to is the hawking of wares with two accounts. If you're going to buy something, then sell it right away, be up front about it.

I didn't notice that. Thank you for pointing that out. Now the world is safer!

It is rather creepy though that he's been up-ing his post counts talking to himself.

I know feedback threads accomplish the same thing, but I'm a member of a few forums with Reputation-based feedback. It appears as a little bar under your username that goes green or red depending on the feedback your posts receive.
Better, contributive posts = more green(good) rep
Poor, spamming/flaming posts = more red(bad) rep

I find it to be a nice visual tool when evaluating the trustworthiness of a user when dealing with their advice or when transacting a sale.

I generally agree with this sentiment. Since the conversation I moved I will say additionally that while the mods are sometimes too quiet for my tastes, they do move reasonably fast, which should be applauded. Their silence, however, lets these sorts of threads fester in ambiguity. I have been swayed by the arguments of others that while flipping for profit is probably ok, the use of two accounts in an effort to deceive is unforgivable. It's probably time for a bump in the post count needed to post in the FS forum plus being a contributing member. But time will tell if any changes will be made. I hate seeing these bad apples in the community.

Ive read this whole forum and I find it somewhat sickening. I was curious about lucky_star with all his rare acquisitions and low post count and I watched Waddragons stock of phones and amps grow...

As for the requirements, I really dont think there is an end all solution that will make everyone happy.

I bought a pair of phones new and wanted to upgrade so I sold them on here and thats only when I had been here for 2 months and like 80 posts. Also I sold my HF-1s about a week after I got them, but that was because my ears could not stand the grado fit (sad because they were headphiled and were gorgeous).

I guess there needs to be something to prevent multiple accounts to IP addresses, or some sort of process to register to sell...

At least he was banned and everything will hopefully go back to normal...

That reminds me, it's my turn for you to send me the dCS Verdi Encore SACD/CD transport, then I'll pass it onto the next guy. Don't forget, you have to pay the shipping as usual.

And, in your case the HF-1 went back to the guy who had sold them to you (me), so you didn't turn a profit by "flipping" them.

Yeah thats funny how that happened. I dont remember my SR80s being that uncomfortable. Due to my D5000 being broken, I am stuck with my Bose OE until tuesday.

Tuesday should be like Christmas with the arrival of 650s (1st time hearing them) and ALO re-cabled 780s. I am most excited for the latter of the two due to my want to hear an Ultrasone and an ALO re-cabled can.

I actually thought about buying from Waddragon...
